Chapter 10: Going home

We were flying back to Hartford this evening on Finn's jet. After I proposed, we arrived back to our room. 

There were balloons, confetti, and a cake. We celebrated throughout the night. Rory called her mom the minute we were finished making out right after I proposed. 

I had already spoken to Lorelai and Christopher before I proposed. I know she is going to want to visit her mom the minute we land. So, I already made arrangements for the car to be waiting to take us to Stars Hollow.

I lean over, brush a piece of hair off her face, and tuck it behind her ear. I sit there and admire her as she sleeps.

I have to talk to her about what Mitchum said about us getting married to void the contract. Speaking to the boys. I just don't want her to think that is the only reason I proposed was to void that damn contract. I could care less about that stupid thing. 

I had honestly forgotten about it until I received a text telling me to "get the ball rolling. Get her to marry you soon."

I responded and told him we were engaged, but we would get married in our time. She is the woman I love, the only woman I would be marrying, and it wasn't just to void a damn contract. He has yet to reply back. 

Finn walked over, placed his hand on my shoulder, and smiled. "I am so happy for you, Mate. I am glad you two finally came to your bloody senses. It has always been you for her and her for you."

"I know Finn, but I am so afraid that I am going to lose her again. Especially when she hears what Mitchum wants us to do. If I don't marry her by February 18th, then we have to pay a huge sum of money to Odette's family because I broke the engagement."

"He told me the day I spoke to him about her being pregnant. He told me about the loophole, and I forgot about it until he just sent that damn message."

"What exactly did he say about the loophole?"

"Mitchum said that if either myself or Odette were to get married by our wedding date that, the contract between Odette and I would become null and void. I ignored what he said and completely forgot about it until he sent me that text. Now, I am afraid she will think that the only reason I proposed was to void this stupid contract, and it's not."

"I proposed because I want to marry this woman. I mean, I proposed ten years ago because I wanted to spend my life with her. She is the only woman I have ever seen a future with, marriage, our house, kids, traveling, and even grandkids. He laughed I even saw our house in California with an avocado tree because she is and always has been it for me. She has to know that, right? I have to tell her the truth because I know she will hear it from Mitchum." 

"Hey, mate don't worry about all that. Be honest with her as I always say, Honesty is the best policy. Just tell her everything like you just told me. Tell her everything Mitchum said, how you even forgot about it because you didn't care, the reason you proposed, and your intentions." Finn said.

"Yep, explain everything and how you do not intend on voiding the contract. You just want to marry her because you love her, and you are even willing to wait until after said date just to prove your intentions have nothing to do with the contract." Robert said. 

"Well, to be honest, me and the entire gang have pretty much planned your entire wedding," Colin interjects, smiling.

"Yes, we have Colin, but we can change plans if we need to. We are not going to rush these two lovebirds to the altar until they are ready." Robert said.

"What do you mean you all have planned my wedding to Rory?"

"Well, we thought you two have waited long enough, and being that mother is pregnant. We just figured we would help it all happen and take the stress away from Mother. We have it scheduled for six weeks and two days from Saturday on New Year's Eve." Steph said happily.
