Lila's POV

"Can't you see that you're the only one for me?"

I look up from my task to my TV where my drama is playing. Damn, homegirl really cornered him and is asking the real questions now.

"I've loved you ever since we met. Do you not love me? Am I not good enough?"

I pout as her love interest just stares at her. Men. They freeze when they're put on the spot. Somehow, this feels familiar. Eh whatever. I scratch my cheek when it starts itching and pull my hand back quickly in disgust.

"Ew!" I remark loudly as I try to wipe the slime off my face.

Great! Just great! I thought carving pumpkins in my living room would be fun, but turns out, it's hella messy. I pick up my discarded knife again and continue where I left off. I was trying to carve out Pepe the Frog and afterwards display it on my balcony, but it wasn't working out like I intended it to. Just as I move on to the next part, my phone starts ringing loudly nearly making me go deaf in the otherwise quiet room.

I pick it up without checking the caller ID and answer. "Hello? Queen of England speaking. Who's this?"

"Lily?" I hear a sniffle from the other side and immediately pause my show.

"Vance? What's wrong?" I ask softly and clean up a little of my mess.

"Can I come over?" He asks with a small sob making my heart churn. Who hurt my cutie?

"Of course. Do you need me to pick you up?" I hear a huff from the other side knowing immediately who it is and glare at the wall.

"No. I'm on my way right now." Vance sighs out before hanging up.

I wait for a couple of minutes in silence, the dim light of my living room illuminating the mess around me. Who the hell hurt my cutie? I think back to everyone who has a problem or is involved with Vance. Was it that guy at school who literally competes with Vance at everything? Was it one of the guys? Knowing Jeremy and his attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if it was him. Or maybe it was his boyfriend? Nevertheless, I have some ass to beat and I won't hesitate to beat it.

My doorbell rings, breaking me from my thoughts. I rush to the door and throw it open, only to be met with a broken sight. I pull Vance in quickly while glaring at the man behind me. Jesse growls and attempts to pull him back but I stop him.

"Did you do something to him?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest and keeping a strong stance. He may look intimidating and sound just as equal, but I'm not intimidated in the least.

He glares at me before shifting his gaze to the boy behind me. "No."

"It's okay, Jesse. I'm okay." Vance reassures his boyfriend, his voice saying otherwise.

Jesse looks hesitant to leave. He keeps shifting his gaze between Vance and the floor. I step to the side, knowing he wants to say goodbye and wait in the living room.

A minute later, Jesse leaves and Vance closes the door gently, locking it and stands still with his head down.

"Hey, Vance. Come here! I was watching this really good show and the story was just getting good." I speak up, hoping that makes him relax a little. It does.

He slowly makes his way over and runs his eyes over the mess. He doesn't comment and sits on the couch, but I pull him down in a hug.

"I was also carving pumpkins. You wanna join?" I ask cheekily with a grin and he returns it with a small smile.

"Yeah. Halloween is two weeks from now, though." He says as I hand him a medium sized pumpkin, a knife, and a spoon.

"I wanted to decorate the house. And I was bored too." I shrug and Vance laughs sweetly. I look over at him to see him shifting the pumpkin in his hands with an intense look. I grab his hands and he snaps his gaze up to my eyes.
