Grian was walking along the paths, eyes wide as he took in all of the architecture. There were a lot of bright colors, and everything could use a little bit of extra detailing, but it was all so impressive anyways. He bumps into someone while he marvels everything. He apologizes, looking up at the white smiley face mask. Most people are put off by masks, but he was used to them, so he just smiled brightly.
"Sorry again about that, I'm Grian!"
"Dream. Welcome to the MineCraft Championships."
"Thank you!"
"Grian, what are you-" Ren runs over, semi flinching away as Dream turns to face him.
"Hey Ren! I was just meeting our fellow contestants!"
"Starting with Dream? Who's next, Techno?" Dream wanders off, back to his group.
"Techno? As in Technoblade?"
"You've heard of him?"
"I've met him! Where is he?"
"Uh... Probably with his teammates over by the drink bar but I wouldn't-"
"Thank you!" He runs past him, quickly spotting the drink bar and a familiar red caped and pink haired fellow.
"Techno!" He whips around, pig mask reflecting his expression of shock.
"Grian? What are you doing here man?"
"The hermitcraft guys needed another player cause Cub was takin care of Scar this week!"
"Ah, I see."
"Techno, you know him?" A guy in a green and white striped hat asks.
"Yeah, wish I didn't. Gremlin turned my hair pink!"
"Wait the dye hasn't washed out yet? No way!"
"The dye fades when you die. Problem is, G, Technoblade never dies."
"Ah... right... forgot about that... the pink looks nice!"
"I do rock the pink, don't I? Everyone, meet Grian. He's an old friend of mine."
"Hey, I'm Phil!"
"I'm Wilbur."
"Tommy!"
"It's nice to meet you all! I should get over to my team now. Good luck!"
"We'll need it." Techno snickers.
"Aw, Dream ain't so bad!"
"Dream's not who I'm worried about."

First they played Skyblockle, Grian taking the trident and enchanting it with loyalty. False had a sword, Ren had an axe, and Impulse had a crossbow.
"You sure you want the trident?" False asks, deflecting a blade and pushing her attacker off the edge. "It's pretty heavy."
"I'll manage." Grian grins, throwing the trident and knocking someone about 20 blocks away off the map. False's eyebrows raise slightly as she makes an impressed "huh" sound, and then she goes back to fighting the team that dropped on them.
"When'd you get good at a trident?" Impulse asks, shooting someone off their bridge.
"I remembered Cub talking about them and figured I would practice a bit," he lies. In reality, tridents were not that different from spears, and he had trained with spears quite a bit in his past. He just had to account for the extra weight on the front, which he got used to very quickly.
They ended up at mid, Ren commenting about how they usually didn't make it this far, and were faced by two other teams; Techno's and Dream's.
False muttered a soft "we're screwed," but Grian shakes his head, trident twirling in his hand. He waits for a second, then throws it at Dream. He falls to the ground, but Techno gets the kill by stabbing him. The trident flies back to his hand and he takes out one of Dream's teammates as well.
"Jesus, you are lethal with that thing! You only had like three days to practice!"
"I learn quickly."
He blocks a blow from Techno's sword, pushing him back and swinging to slash his chest. Techno leaps out of the way, and this continues for a bit. Block, push, slash, block, get pushed, dodge.
Their teammates had gotten eliminated, aside from Phil, who was too low to actually engage in combat. He eats an apple while watching the spectical.
He remembers the overheard excuse; there was NO WAY this guy had only trained for three days. He had to have trained for at least a year, maybe more.
"This is getting old." Techno comments.
"Just like old times! Except in old times, there wasn't a deadly border closing in and this went on until we couldn't move our arms anymore."
"Mhm. I can't throw, you know, I have a reputation."
"Aw, damn. Well, you've got a point. You aint getting kill credit though." He grins, leaping back into the border. His body poofs and he respawns to watch fireworks shoot.
"What was that about?" False asks, raising an eyebrow.
"I knew I couldn't win, so I decided the best thing I could do was make sure they didn't get the extra ten points. Its not a lot but... well, it's better than nothing isn't it?"
"Fair enough, I guess."
Phil and Techno are teleported back to spawn and they play another two rounds. They didn't make it to the center the second time, as they were targeted heavily by Dream, or rather, Grian was targeted heavily by Dream. He watches in smug satisfaction as Techno enderpearls over, shoving him off the map, calling "that's for killing Grian!" after him. Grian smiles happily. Techno's team wins again that time.
The third round, Techno and his teammates get unlucky, pinned at an island and killed by the border. Grian does claim the kill credit on like three of them though.
"You scare me." Impulse laughs nervously, shooting someone off the edge. Grian impales Dream, sending him flying off.
"Why's that?" He asks innocently, catching the trident without looking and sending it flying at Dream's teammate, George?
He goes flying off the edge too.
They managed to win that final round, Grian getting a total of 10 kills across every game.
They play multiple different games, Grian acing a lot of them.
He finds himself in an arial battle between himself and Phil, Techno's teammate, in rocket spleef. The elegance of his moves, he notes as he watches him, could only indicate one thing; he had wings, and used them often. As he swoops past him, he pulls up slightly, gliding next to him.
"You got wings?"
"...How'd you know?"
"I got em too. We should go flying together sometime."
"I'd like that."
They end up tying that round, and the one after, and the final one as well.
He also does well at Hole in the Wall, tying with Pete abd Techno every time.
The final game they played was sands of time. He ends up pretty far away from the center, opening a blue vault. Inside, there are lots and lots of coins. He picks them up, heading back quickly. A skeleton shoots at him just as he gets to the entrance, and his wing bats it out of the air instinctively, folding back into his back. He pretends like nothing happened as Impulse blinks at him, shocked.
"What?"
"N-nothing! Ren will be back soon, False got a green vault too."
He places the sand he collected, aside from two.
They all head through the portal as the other two get back, placing second. They cheered, highfiving eachother.
