"what a marvelous mind you have there, y/n" he chuckled before reaching out for the book that was rested on the table. "may I?"

"you may" I nodded as he took the book into his hands, opening the first page before beginning to read my notes.

I was a little more confident about my notes in this novel, since I was more familiar with the story.

Once again, I watched as his fingers scanned each page, impressively only staying on each page for a couple of seconds.

"they're even more detailed and interesting than the previous notes" he nodded, placing the book down.

"I'm just more comfortable and knowledgeable about this novel so I guess I had more to write about, since I'm more familiar with the story" I nodded.

He nodded.

"that's understandable. I can imagine that it would be easier and it definitely payed off, these are some clever, well thought out notes here. I'm impressed" considering he is a literal genius, it actually meant a lot that he said that.

"that means a lot actually" I chuckled lightly.

"you're welcome" he nodded. "do you want to take a look at mine?"

"uh yeah sure, are they old notes?" I wondered.

"actually I reread it this morning so that my mind would be refreshed for today" he replied.

"you have an eidetic memory, you don't need refreshing. You could probably recite this whole book in your sleep" I chuckled.

"you may be right but to give you a fair advantage. both of us, fresh minds to discuss the book" he nodded.

"i appreciate that" I smiled gently, taking his own copy of the book into my own hands, gently opening it to the first page. "woah"

I stared at the pages filled with notes, and I mean NOTES.

he did this today?

"what is it?" he wondered.

"you wrote all of these notes today?" I lifted my head to look at him.

"uh yeah, I'm pretty fast writer" he chuckled gently.

"me too but god this is impressive" I scoffed lightly.

I took a read through his notes, teaching about 1/3 of the way into the novel before lifting my head to look at Spencer.

"I just realised... its gonna take a while for me to read these notes" I chuckled.

"oh.. uh right,, right" he nodded gently, taking the book from my hands.

"I get the jist though. these are some incredible notes I.. I'm impressed" I smiled gently.

"thank you" he replied. "so uh have you had anything for breakfast?"

"since you woke me up, I'm gonna say no" I snickered.

"you wanna go get something to eat?" he wondered. "we can make a pitstop, maybe walk around a little, we can even sit in a park and discuss the book"

I stared at him for a couple of moments.

"uh yeah.. that'd be nice" I nodded.

"let's go then" he placed the two books down onto the table in front of us before standing up from his sofa.

I watched him for a moment before standing up myself.

"anywhere you fancy?" he asked gently as we made our way out of the apartment.

"what's around here?" I wondered.

"there's this pretty cool calzone place down the street" he suggested.

"sounds good" I grinned as we exited the apartment building, the cold fall air hitting our faces.

Christ.

"you're cold, aren't you?" he asked as we walked side by side.

"..no" I mumbled.

"you're a bad liar" he extended his arm which had a cardigan resting over it, I hadn't even noticed it.

"oh.. no its okay" I shook my head gently.

"it's 40F, you're gonna freeze" he kept his arm extended.

I sighed before grabbing the cardigan, sliding it onto my body, the warmth of the fabric hitting my skin in an instant.

Oh this is comfortable.

"it's nice, isn't it?" he asked as I wrapped it further around my body.

"it's very nice" I chuckled lightly.

"so here we are" he stated as we stopped outside the calzone place he had mentioned. "what do you want?"

"well let's go on in and we can see" I chuckled, walking past him into the building, the insanely wonderful smell filling my senses the moment I walked through the door.

I stood there staring at the menu that was up on the wall as I noticed Spencer come and stand by my side.

"what you getting?" I asked gently.

"well I've had breakfast but I'm really eyeing up those donuts" he nodded.

"which one you getting?" I wondered.

"chocolate with sprinkles" he replied bluntly.

"good choice" I grinned.

"how about you?" he turned to look at me.

"I'm a picky eater so probably just that pepperoni calzone and a chocolate milkshake" I nodded, reaching into my pocket.

"don't, I'm paying" he stood forward and before I could protest, he began speaking to the girl behind the counter.

I scoffed gently, a small smile on my face as I stepped forward to his side.

"thanks" I mumbled.

"don't mention it" he turned to me a couple of moments later, passing me the milkshake and the calzone I had ordered.

We exited the building and continued our way down the street.

"How's your food?" he wondered.

"I didn't think you were one for small talk, doctor Reid" I chuckled. "but its good thank you, I'm assuming yours is too"

"you would be right" he nodded gently.

We walked a little more, the comfortable silence taking over.

"hey" he stopped, turning to me suddenly.

"hey" I smiled.

"wanna just head back to my apartment, we can discuss this book another day.. also we said we'd exchanged piano skills" he suggested.

"I get to see Doctor Spencer Reid play piano? Lead the way" I grinned.

He chuckled lightly to himself before turning on his foot and leading me in the opposite direction, right back to his apartment.
