As if the world was against me, the moment we stepped foot into his apartment building, my phone began buzzing.

"shit" I mumbled to myself, pulling out my phone.

my love: meet me at our restaurant in an hour xx

me: why? xx

my love: I'm taking my girl out for dinner, I'll see you in an hour xx

"Is everything alright?" Spencer asked.

"i.. I have to go, I'm sorry" I shook my head. "Lucy is taking me out"

"you don't sound so happy about that" he stated.

I..

I stared at him, almost dumbfounded because I realised he was right.

"what? she's.. she's my girlfriend and I love her, I'm just.. I was looking forward to hearing you play" I mumbled.

"another day, y/n. now go have fun on your date" he nodded.

"okay.. thank you for today" I grinned before rushing out of the building.

I took a moment to look back at the boy, who was still looking my way. I gave him a small smile in which he gave in return.

I decided it was easier to get a cab but as soon as it began pouring down with rain in the streets of New York, I knew I needed the walk.

After a short while, knowing I didn't have a lot of time to get ready, I arrived in my apartment, instantly rushing to my room.

I peeled the now soaking clothes from my body, replacing it with this dark red body con dress that was very low cut but very flattering.

I didn't have a lot of time before I had to leave so I did a simple makeup look, adding a dark red lip to match my dress.

I dryed my hair, styling it naturally before thinking.. fuck it and just grabbing my phone, grabbing a jacket and heading back out into the world, thankfully it was no longer raining.

I jumped in a taxi and headed to the restaurant, realising quickly that it was only around the block from Spencers apartment.

I entered the restaurant, taking a look around the room to make sure that Lucy hadn't arrived yet before returning once again to the outside in order to wait for my beloved.

me: just arrived, I'll wait outside for u xx

I slid my phone into my jacket pocket before leaning back onto the restaurant wall to wait.

and I waited.

5 minutes.

another 5 minutes.

another 5 minutes.

another 5 minutes.

me: hey, are you on your way? xx

another 5 minutes.

after 25 minutes, it had started raining again.

me: baby, are you okay? Xx
me: Lucy? xx

by 50 minutes, I was soaked, much like I was earlier but worse.

I tried calling but no answer.

another 30 minutes went by when finally...

my love: can't make it sorry, text you later, love you xxx

Reading that text, I finally let go of a sob I had been holding in my throat for the past hour and a half.

"are you fucking.. kidding me" I sobbed, struggling to run my hand through my soaked hair.

I stood there for a couple more minutes before wrapping my jacket around my cold, cold body and began walking.

I wasn't sure where i was walking.

But I was just walking.

Soon enough, I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk.

Something told me I had to.

It was dark but as I turned my head, I could make out the building that was by my side.

Spencers building.

That's what.

I sighed gently, knowing it would be a bad idea, but made my way up the steps of the building, opening the door with ease.

I lumbered up the steps before reaching the 4th floor, his floor.

I walked and walked the hallway before stopping outside of the door, I knew I'd regret this.

I lifted my hand and gently knocked on the door.

I was cold.. and weak so the knocks weren't that loud or affective but the door swung open in a matter of seconds anyway.

I lifted my head to meet his eyes, his eyes that were filled with worry and questions.

"y/n.." he mumbled. "come... come in"

I nodded, sliding past him into his apartment.

Without asking, I slid my heels from my feet, placing them by the door before continuing into the apartment.

"are you okay?" I heard the door close gently.

"she stood me up" I sat down on his couch like I had done earlier that day, biting down on my bottom lip, not wanting to cry in front of him.

"Lucy?" he wondered.

"who else?" I scoffed.

"coffee?" I lifted my head to look at his poor face.

I felt bad.

I just barged in here without warning.

He clearly doesn't know how to handle this.

He clearly isn't experienced in comforting people.

I nodded.

"uh can I use your bathroom?" I stood up after a moment.

The boy nodded, in response, pointing to a door at the far end of the apartment.

I tiptoed across the wood floor and entered the room, gasping gently as I caught my face in the mirror.

I felt embarrassed all of a sudden, knowing he'd seen me like that.

My makeup, more noticeably my mascara had completely melted off of my face and my hair was soaked to my skin.

I turned on the faucet, waiting for it to warm up a little before attempting to wash the leftover makeup from my face.

I ran my hands through my hair a couple of times before taking one last look in the mirror.

I still looked like a wreck but slightly better than before.

"that'll do" I shrugged before returning to the living room, where Spencer was sat with two cups of coffee in hand.

I took a moment to peel the leather jacket I was wearing off of my body and placed it under the table before sitting down in my usual seat.
