"I killed a patient today."
Listening to her Manik was not shocked but concerned about why would she think like that.
Manik calmly held her hand , sat Infront of her , looked her in the eyes and very softly asked her " Nandini, why would you think like that. Tell me what happened".

Nandini- I had an operation today, a very important one.
It was a supposed to be held of patient without any food. As usual, before performing the operation I asked the family normal Ques and of course whether or not the patient had food or not.
They all said no. So I performed the operation and later it all went to shit as she had eaten something.
It turned out she ate something with her 4-year old daughter unknowingly and I tried to get a heartbeat but I ...I just couldn't (sobbing)

How could I be so careless.
Manik- Okay...now I am gonna ask you some questions and you are gonna answer me honestly...ok
Nandini nodded.

1st Ques- Did you or did you not inform the family about not eating anything?
Nandini- I did.
2nd Ques- Did you or did you not asked again before performing the operation?
Nandini- I did.
3rd Ques- Did you or did you not do everything in your power to save the patient?
Nandini- I (cracking voice) ...I tried..I mean I tried.
4 the Ques- Did you or did you not care for your every patient?
Nandini- Of course I do.
Manik- Then why would you think that it was anywhere your fault.
Nandini sometimes this kinda a stuff happens but all you could is not blame yourself and get stuck with that incident and immediately affect your life.
And if your life will be affected so were everyone around yours including your patient. And Nandini loosing somebody is a part of life...I know it sucks but we can't help it and all we can do is to do our best.
