The boys eventually went to go and study, so Aria decided to take it upon herself to go to the library so she could tutor some of the students that had signed up for Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger's tuition sessions. Aria hadn't expected to see anyone else in the library, due to the fact that hardly anyone was still at Hogwarts, which was why she was surprised when Slytherin's Barbie entered the scene.

Malfoy glanced around the shelves for a minute until his cold, stony grey eyes settled on Aria and narrowed to slits.

Aria had to wonder whether Malfoy's eyes ever looked anything other than cold. She couldn't imagine that they had actually displayed any joy or excitement or amusement in a while, anyway. In first year, Malfoy used to have fun. He was still an insufferable nightmare, of course, but he seemed to enjoy making other people's lives a misery. Now, though, he just seemed...emotionless. A vacant space. It was as though the excitement and mischief had been drained out of him, leaving behind this hollow shell that lived to obey his father's orders. Aria hated to pity other people, but she couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him. That lasted up until the point that she reminded herself that this was Draco Lucius Malfoy that she was thinking about.

Adjusting her tie, Aria had decided that she wasn't going to pay Draco any attention. This all changed, of course, when she observed him pulling something out of his pocket and quickly realised it was some contact lenses. Aria felt tempted to wince as she watched him put them in. She had an eye-sight enhancing spell that she could have used, but this was Draco Malfoy she was looking at, and she wasn't feeling like being particularly nice to him.

Malfoy eventually grabbed a hold of the book that he wanted and went to sit right on Aria's table, which prompted her tutee to leave. In her irritation, Aria's warm eyes became a little cooler, this time around.

"Do you have to sit right there, Malfoy?" she asked him.

"Yes. I'm not moving. I thought I would get some reading done and, well, the rest of the library is empty," he explained.

Aria's eyes regarded him thoughtfully for a moment.

"You say that and I can't decide whether you're here because you want to make a nuisance of yourself or because you're lonely," Aria said.

Malfoy scowled at that comment but remained silent, as he shifted a little uncomfortably in his seat. He eventually opened the book and his slender fingers began to flip over the pages.

Pulling her gaze away from him, Aria returned her attention to her own book and read for a short while.

"What is that?" Malfoy asked her, as his eyes glanced towards the book she was reading.

"Pride and Prejudice. It's a muggle book, so I doubt that you would be interested," she said.

Aria loved to read more than anything else and due to that, she tended to have a collection of books from both the wizarding and muggle worlds.

"It sounds tedious," Malfoy said.

Turning the page, Aria chose to ignore that comment. She needed to find out what was going to happen next and she didn't need Malfoy ruining that.

"You half-bloods and your weird muggle creations," Malfoy said, with a judgmental stare. He didn't say another word, then, as he pulled another book out of his bag and looked over it for a couple of moments, before he grabbed a quill out of thin air and began to write with it. Without his wand, Malfoy could still perform some spells, just far less than he would be able to if he still had his wand. It was frustrating but bearable. He just hoped that Aria wouldn't cause him more irritation.  He wrote away for a short while but he didn't notice that Aria was observing him do so until he looked up. "Stop staring at me. I know I'm pretty but stop," Malfoy said, which caused Aria to release a gentle laugh. The act took Malfoy by surprise and for a fleeting moment, his icy exterior crumbled away. Only temporarily, though, before he plastered a much more serious expression upon his face.

Aria eventually stood up.

"Where are you going?" Malfoy asked her.

"To the little ladies room. Why are you so interested? Do you want to come with me?" she teased, which caused Malfoy's cheeks to flush faintly.

"No," he said, "I'm just curious," he admitted.

Malfoy soon stood up too.

"Well, if you're leaving then I'm leaving. I'm done here," he said, and then reached out and grabbed a hold of a book and walked away.

The only problem with him leaving the library so hastily, of course, was the fact that he had ended up picking up Pride and Prejudice instead of the book that he had been writing in.

"Hm. What's this?" Aria said quietly to herself and then picked the book up off the table. She wasn't usually one to intrude on people's personal belongings but this was different. This was Malfoy's.

Aria began to flick through the pages of the green book in her hands and soon realised something rather shocking.

This wasn't just some random wizard's book. It was a journal.

This Diary is the Possession of Draco Lucius Malfoy,

The 'Lucius' part was crossed out.

"Knew it. Daddy issues," Aria whispered, as she read on.

I can't believe I am back here. I was ever-so dedicated to helping my father in the return of the Dark Lord and now I'm back in Hogwarts, of all places. I don't know exactly how I'm going to do it yet but I am going to leave. There is no way I can stay here, especially not when I have Professor glasses watching over me like an irritating eagle and Harry and his ridiculous friends buzzing around all day long. I can't stand it here. I will leave. Nobody could ever change my mind on where my stance is. I will return to my family's side and put an end to Potter and this tedious existence. This night has only just begun.
