Aria and Draco awoke the next morning curled up together in each other's arms. Draco's slender fingers began to gently move through Aria's hair as he smiled in the warmth of the sunlight shining in through the window nearby. It was a sunny day and as much as Draco would have loved to have stayed in bed with Aria all day, he knew that they couldn't waste it. Besides, classes were going to start again soon and they wouldn't be able to have quite as much free time as they did at present. Of course, they would find their ways around it. They always did.
Draco sat up in bed and decided it was about time to get ready for the day ahead.
Aria grumbled from the bed after Draco had pulled on a new shirt and trousers, which caused him to chuckle slightly.
"Are you alright, Ari?" he asked, with genuine care in his voice.
"Do I have to get up?" Aria asked in return.
"You don't have to but I can't recommend staying here all day. Blaise and Theo will show up soon enough and well..." Draco just looked at Aria then and it only took her a couple of moments to realise why.
"Shit," she said, "Do you have any clothes that I can borrow?" she asked.
"Of course, I do, Honey," Draco replied with a kind smile upon his face. He quickly went to grab her a spare tie and several other spares that had been found in the magical wardrobe. When he returned to the bedroom, he found that Aria had fallen back to sleep and couldn't help but release a soft chuckle at that. He went to sit on the bed beside her and gently placed a hand upon her shoulder as he spoke again. "Aria, you need to wake up," he said.
Aria groaned but eventually her eyes fluttered open and she grabbed the clean clothes from Draco and swiftly changed into them.
When the two of them were done getting ready for the day ahead, they left the Slytherin common room behind and headed down one of the hallways. As they did so, Aria's eyes glanced out of the window to find that the trees outside were beginning to turn golds, reds and purples with the onset of autumn. She almost couldn't believe how much had changed in the space of a year because everything had. Everything was different, now.
Of course, most things had changed for the better.
As she thought about this, Aria reached out to take Draco's hand in hers and the two of them continued to walk on down the hall until they eventually walked into the Great Hall once again.
"Hey," Draco said quietly into Aria's ear, as the two of them went to sit down at the Gryffindor table with her friends. "I love you."
Aria turned to him and smiled, as she mouthed the words back to him. "I love you."
Aria scooted closer to Draco on the bench and he gently wound a free arm around her waist for several moments.
"You can have some of mine," Draco said, as he passed her some of his toast.
"I didn't realise you shared food," Aria replied with a playful glint in her gaze.
"I don't. Most of the time," Draco said with an affectionate smile.
Aria couldn't help but smile back at him, as she began to eat some of the food that he had given to her.
"What should we do today?" Draco asked, as an expression of curiosity appeared upon his face.
"We probably have some time to kill before classes start again," Aria replied. "How about a trip to Hogsmeade?" she suggested, which generated a few murmurs of agreement from the people sat on the table nearby them.
Draco gave her a gentle grin before he replied again. "Sure, Aria. Sounds good," he said. "And then we'll have to come back and study," he said.
"Yeah. You wish," Aria said, as she took another bite.
It only took her a few more seconds to catch on to the expression on Draco's face.
"Oh, right. 'Study'," she said, as mischief flickered in her expression.
Draco smirked at that, before he turned his attention to Harry, who spoke next.
"I think a trip to Hogsmeade would be great. We should probably leave soon," he said.
"Yeah! We should," Ginny said.
Fred and George came to join the group then and nodded in agreement.
"Ron?" Hermione asked, as she turned to him.
Ron turned to her and gave a murmur of agreement, too.
"Sure. I'd like that," he said.
Thus, after breakfast the group of them sat up from the Gryffindor table and were soon joined by Luna, Cho, Blaise and Theo, too.
Once the group was all sorted, they made their way out of the Great Hall and towards the train for Hogsmeade.
It didn't take them long to arrive and once they did, they began to head in the direction of the shops that they wanted to visit. Most of them were stocked with new items, as they had only re-opened recently due to the war finally coming to an end.
While the others were a short distance away from them, Draco pulled Aria into him and pressed a gentle kiss upon her forehead.
Aria reached up to loop her arms around Draco's neck, as she stood up on her tip-toes to softly kiss him again.
"I love you, don't go forgetting that," Aria said.
Draco smiled at her as he lifted her off the ground to kiss her again.
"I don't think I ever could, Aria," he said, "Especially not when I love you."
After he said that, Draco squeezed Aria in a hug and soon placed her back down onto the ground again.
"You look really beautiful right now, by the way. I mean, you always do but-" Draco paused then, as Aria smirked at him.
"What?" he asked her.
"We should catch up with the others," she said, "I'll race you," she added, as she set off into the snow and Draco gently chuckled to himself before he followed suit, his heart pounding away inside his chest as he finally knew what true freedom felt like. He found it in loving her.
