When Aria and Draco returned to the Hufflepuff common room, they went to sit down on one of the yellow sofas within it.
"So, what happens now?" Aria asked, as her honey eyes found Draco's grey ones once again.
"Well, honestly, I don't know. We need to fix Hogwarts, though. The place is a complete mess," he said, "At least we have McGonagall now."
"Hm?" Aria asked.
"As headteacher. I prefer her to Dumbledore," he explained.
Aria couldn't help but smile knowingly at that.
"You never did like him. Why was that?" Aria asked.
Draco's expression hardened before he replied. "I didn't like the way that he used people as his pawns- the way that he essentially used Harry and never told him his plan and...when I had a spare moment, I did find out what happened to Snape. I used the tears to discover his memories and...He was never really on Voldemort's side, but I think we already knew that," he said.
"Then what happened with him?" Aria asked.
Draco released a long sigh, before he replied. "He was in love with Harry's mother, Lily," he said.
At this confession, Aria's eyes widened slightly.
"He wanted to protect Harry," Draco said, as he gave a small shrug of his shoulders.
"You really wouldn't have thought so from the way that he treated Harry," Aria said.
Draco tilted his head slightly as he considered that for several moments.
"Snape was always a strange guy," he said at last, which led Aria to release a chuckle.
Aria ran a hand through her copper-brown waves and then released a gentle breath.
"Are you alright?" Draco asked her, as his eyes flickered with concern.
"I will be. I just don't know when I can relax, you know? Is it really all over?" Aria asked.
After she had asked this, Draco reached out to take one of Aria's hands in his own.
"It's over now, Aria, I promise," he said, with warmth in his voice and an expression that reassured Aria that everything was going to be alright, no matter what.
After all, how could it not be? She had him.
"Good," she said, as she leant in slightly to place a kiss upon one of Draco's cheeks.
Before she could fully sink back into the sofa, Draco swiftly wound his hands around Aria's wrists and pulled her towards him, until they were inches away from each other.
"Aria," he said quietly.
"Draco?" Aria asked, as an expression of subtle curiosity became present on her face.
Draco didn't reply for a few moments, as his eyes fluttered between Aria's own honey ones and her soft, reddish lips.
"What is it?" Aria asked.
"You," he said, which took Aria by slight surprise.
Sooner than she could ask him what he meant by that, Draco spoke again.
"Are you even aware of how beautiful you look right now?" he asked her.
Aria couldn't help but smile at that question.
"I am now," she said.
"Good. You deserve to know," Draco said, with a smile upon his own lips.
Neither one of them said anything else, then, but Draco closed the distance between them until their lips were inches from each other.
As he mustered up some courage, Draco closed the distance entirely, pressing his lips against hers.
Aria reacted on instinct, as her arms went up to wind loosely around Draco's neck, while he ran his fingers through the soft curls of her hair.
Although the kiss had started off slow, it soon became much more intense, and Aria still wasn't entirely sure whether she was in a dream or not. Either way, she knew that she couldn't mistake the way she felt- the furious flutters in her stomach and chest were not going to fade away any time soon.
Aria settled comfortably into the kiss, as her fingers began to move through Draco's hair to find it was so incredibly soft.
As she began to kiss him back with more intensity, Draco pulled away all too suddenly.
He was considerably breathless, as his eyes gazed hard into her own.
"Uh...we should go," he said.
Aria released a breath of her own and adjusted the collar of her uniform slightly, before she replied.
"Yeah. You're probably right," she said.
She had far too many questions on her mind at present, but she knew that they were simply going to have to wait. She couldn't truly believe that had just happened. She had kissed Draco and the weird thing was that as soon as she had done such a thing, she had begun to wonder why they hadn't done that so much sooner. Of course, she could think of several reasons why not.
The two of them moved away from each other on the sofa and soon stood up.
Aria shifted between her feet and then glanced back towards Draco. Her teeth traced her bottom lip slightly as she did so and Draco's jaw twitched slightly as he was found staring right at her.
He didn't say a word as he went to the entrance of the Hufflepuff common room and Aria simply adjusted her hair slightly before she followed him.
It didn't take them long after they had got back into one of Hogwarts' main hallways to realise that they had company in the form of Harry and Ginny.
"We were just wondering where you two had got off to!" Ginny said, "How are you doing?" she asked.
Luckily for both Aria and Draco, Ginny and Harry both seemed entirely oblivious to the fact that anything had happened between Aria and Draco.
"We're fine," Aria said, as she forced a small smile upon her face.
"That's good to know! We were just about to go and grab some food from the Great Hall. We've been performing reparation spells on it all afternoon, it's almost back to normal," Harry explained, with a warm smile on his own face.
"Does this invitation extend to scumbag Slytherins?" Draco asked.
Harry was surprised that some humour had snuck into the blond-haired boy's tone.
"Uh, it can do," Harry said, with a pleasant expression upon his face.
Draco gave a nod at that.
"Sure. Sounds good. Let's go," he said.
