"I think I have an idea of where we can search first," Hermione said, which caused everyone to turn to look at her.
"Where on earth could it be, though? It could be anywhere," Ron said, as he looked around at the others with an expression of curiosity.
Harry turned to him and his jaw twitched slightly with concern.
"Well, that's the whole point of a lost diadem, isn't it, Ron? You know, it's lost. All we can do now is try our best to find it," he said, as they walked on down the hallway.
Hermione then said that there was no 'trying' in question. They had to find and destroy the diadem because it was one of the Horcruxes. Of course, it would be. Voldemort wasn't exactly going to choose easily obtainable objects to hide parts of his soul within now, was he?
As they walked on down the hall, they soon made it to the entrance to the Slytherin common room. Aria's eyes brightened slightly with wonder, as she turned to the others and told them that she needed to go and get something. They nodded in agreement with this and told her that they were going to go and destroy the diadem.
Thus, Aria's legs carried her into the Slytherin common room and she knew exactly what she needed to do next. It may have been a little ambitious to want to get Malfoy's diary again to retrieve more information for her friends, but she was going to try all the same.
She glanced around the room and soon found a small green book on one of the shelves nearby. It must be Malfoy's, she thought. Swiftly moving over to the book shelf, Aria picked up the book and placed it into her robe's pocket. She believed that she had got what she came for and was about to make a run for it, but she was stopped all of a sudden by the one and only Draco Lucius Malfoy himself. He looked a little older, somehow, and Aria assumed it was because he hadn't been getting much sleep. At least, she assumed as much because she hadn't been getting the best nights of sleep herself.
"What are you doing?" Malfoy asked her, as one of his eyebrows raised in his interest.
"Nothing. I returned the dress," Aria lied easily. In truth, she had actually returned it in the early hours of the morning. She loved the dress but it felt wrong to keep it.
"You didn't need to return it," Malfoy said.
Aria shrugged nonchalantly at that comment. What was he even going on about? Of course, she was going to return it.
"It's not really mine," she said.
"I disagree," Malfoy said quicker than he could stop himself from saying such a thing.
Aria remained quiet for a moment, as she collected her thoughts. Was Malfoy being almost nice to her? He must be up to something, she believed.
"What's she doing here?" a new voice spoke up now, as a familiar brunette walked over to Malfoy and placed her hand upon his upper arm.
Malfoy's jaw twitched slightly, but he hadn't expected Aria to notice it.
"Greengrass," Aria said simply.
"Half-blood girl," Astoria replied, flipping her hair over her shoulder, with an uninterested expression upon her face. She then glanced between Malfoy and Aria with a supsicious expression, as she tried to work out what exactly the two of them had been talking about. More to the point, why was Draco even in the common room with a Hufflepuff girl, anyway? The only people that were allowed entry to the Slytherin common room were, well, Slytherins. "What's she doing here, Malfoy?" Astoria asked him.
"She was returning a dress," he said.
"A dress?" Astoria echoed.
"Yes. For the autumn dance. You weren't there," Malfoy said.
Astoria's eyes narrowed at that comment. Why was Malfoy being so cold to her? She couldn't bear it.
"You went with a Hufflepuff to the dance?" she hissed.
"I do as I please," Malfoy said with a shrug, before he walked back into his bedroom.
In his absence, Astoria met Aria's gaze with an expression of disgust. "There should be a good reason why you're still here," she said with irritation evident in her voice.
"There is. We're studying together. Right, Aria?" Pansy said, as she entered the common room to join the other girls.
Aria wasn't too sure why Pansy Parkinson was helping her out, here, but she nodded in agreement.
"Very well. It's weird, Pansy, I thought that hanging out with Hufflepuffs was beneath you," Astoria said.
"Come off it, Greengrass," Pansy replied.
Astoria shrugged and soon walked away. This was only after she had angrily grabbed a book off the shelf to take with her, of course.
"Thanks," Aria told Pansy, once Astoria was out of earshot.
"It's whatever," Pansy said, "Now, I need to go and talk to Draco."
"I feel like he wants to be alone right now," Aria said.
At least, she had a feeling that he did. Aside from that, though, there was another sinking feeling that made her not want Pansy to go and speak with Malfoy. She was a little worried that Pansy was onto her, for some reason. After all, it wasn't as though she and Pansy were suddenly friends.
"I don't care what you think. I'm going to go and talk to Malfoy," Pansy said simply. Of course, just like the rest of the Slytherins that Aria knew, Pansy occupied an iron will, too. "Here's the thing, Aria, I don't trust you. For some reason, Malfoy doesn't seem to be as concerned with you entering and leaving this common room as the rest of us are and...He's kind of in control here, you know, given his father's status."
Aria felt tempted to sigh. She knew all about Malfoy's status, obviously. It had been brought to her attention enough times over the course of her time at Hogwarts.
"Right. I get that," Aria said, "I'll go," she added.
Pansy looked a little surprised at that statement, but she didn't stop Aria when she walked past her and out of the common room.
