"Nooo.. Are you an idiot?" Sabina shrieked as I was just done telling her everything that happened between me and Ambar.

"I know I over reacted, but that still doesn't give him any right to manhandle me.." I said pointing to the still evident bruise, while I was wearing the dress my mother-in-law had given for my mehendi.

Well, there's one thing good about the pre-wedding rituals.. I get to wear light colored clothes and not the heavy two dozens of red ivory bangles in both my arms, which I'll soon be stuck in again..

Yeah, I was allowed to take them off after asking from some elders in the family. The condition was that those bangles should be kept dipped in a dish of rose water.

"Sammy.. You can't have kids with a man you just met." She says setting my hair.

"We're married.. I'll be spending the life with him. Whether I like it or not.. And this is the perfect time. My senior retires soon.. I'll get a promotion in 4 months.. And then I can take a maternity leave without compromising my career, if things go according to plan.. and even if they don't we'll just be more vigilant about medical opinion to conceive." I say as a matter of fact.

"Sammy.. If by chance.. just suppose.. okay.. you decide you don't want to live with him.. Your decision will affect a life.. You'll destroy the child with your divorce.." she cries out on the verge of tears.

I grab her wrist and stop her movements as I dared her to meet my eye.

"Where did the thought of divorce even came to your mind? Ambar's a successful, intelligent man who doesn't have any idea about the amount of wealth I'll inherit, so doesn't care about it and is understanding about my health issues.. He's almost Perfect.." I say trying to convince her.

Hold on.. Why am I taking Ambar's side?

"Almost Sammy.. ALMOST.. Nobody's perfect.. neither you, nor me.. and surely not Ambar.. Remember how you rejected him last Sunday.. and now.. suddenly he's perfect.."

"Okay fine.. he's an oversmart cop with his head up his ass.. and that's why I rejected him.. And that's why we have issues.." I was saying when I see tears well up in Sabina's eyes.

"This is not about me and Ambar.. Is it?" I whisper and she pulls her hand away, turning her back to me.

"It's about you and Jiju (brother-in-law).." I say getting up from the chair and go to stand infront of her.

"Did he hurt you?" I say checking for any bruises.

"Stop it, Sammy.. I'm fine.. Just worry about yourself. Dad isn't that good a judge of character as he thinks.." she says and walks out, leaving me alone standing there confused.

Dad kind of selected the groom for her as well. Dad met Karan at the bank where he had gone for his retirement fund to be put in a fixed deposit. Karan was helpful and kind, bright enough to be handling a branch efficiently all by himself and promoted at such a young age. Later he was recommended by my mom's friend and dad immediately agreed when he saw the picture. So did Sabina.
