The Ministry of Magic hall was on its usual morning overcrowded state when Harry Potter arrived to work that day. He had a copy of the The Daily Prophet on one hand and his suitcase on the other. His mind was working at a thousand miles per hour, thinking about everything he had in hands. The first couple of weeks as Head Auror had been intense, with a new case worrying the whole department. Death Eaters had been identified as responsible for many terrorists attacks happening on the muggle world. The young man was so deep in his own thoughts he didn't even hear the redhead man calling him to hold the elevator.
"Hey, Harry!" Ron said breathless from the sprint he had just done. "Oh, mate, you could've hold the door for me!" He nudged his friend for attention.
Harry came back to his senses, noticing Ron for the first time. "I'm sorry, man! I wasn't paying attention."
"I noticed!" Ron cross-fired. "What's on your mind?"
"The case. Will you meet me in my office in half an hour, Auror Weasley?" Harry asked, turning his tone to business like he usually got when another Ministry employee was around. Ron nodded and the elevator door closed again and the duo found themselves with Smith from the Department of Magical Games and Sports.
"Good morning, Auror Potter, Auror Weasley." The wizard greeted. They both acknowledge the fellow colleague. "Mr. Potter, I heard of your wife's pregnancy. Congratulations!"
"Well, thank you Mr. Smith. We are really excited!"
"It's a pity, though, to lose such an amazing chaser. The Harpies must've felt such lost!" Harry looked down. He knew that indeed Ginny was more than a brilliant Quidditch player, and he also was sad she had to resign from her dream in name of their little growing family. "But, I'm sure she doesn't need to be isolated from the sport." Mr. Smith continued. "If there's anything I can do, I'd be happy to assist Mrs. Potter on a job!" Harry smiled and thanked the man before the elevator doors opened to the Auror Office floor. Both Harry and Ron left without a word and soon each entered their own offices which were right next door to one another, for much of the best friends' pleasure.
Half an hour later, Ron knocked on Harry's office door before entering with two cups of coffee in hands and a ton of paperwork under his arm. Harry grinned while accepting the drink and nodding to Ron to sit down at the chair in front of his desk. Ron always enjoyed talking to Harry on his office. He had adorned the place with Gryffindor's patterns and had a bunch of pictures of back in the day, as well as one of him and Ron, him and Hermione, of the Golden Trio and finally a picture of him and Ginny at their wedding day and most recently one that had been taken at Christmas of Harry, a pregnant Ginny and Teddy. Ron took the last one to take a closer look.
"It's so weird to hear my baby sister being called Mrs. Potter" he laughed.
"Still holding against me the fact I married your sister, are we?" Harry joked with a malicious grin to his brother-in-law. "Or is it because you had to finally accept she's not a virgin anymore?"
Ron tossed a little soft ball shaped as a snitch that was on Harry's desk. Harry caught it with no difficulties.
"Damn seeker reflexes." Ron cursed. "But, no, I'm not holding it against you! And I know Ginny's no virgin anymore, okay? She is pregnant of my godson!" Ron made a face, looking like he was five. "It's just all so grown up, isn't it? We are married, heads of staff, you're soon to be dad. Where has the time gone?"
Harry reflected a bit on what Ron said before answering. "I don't know where time has gone nor where those fucking Death Eaters are about, so I guess we have a mission to plan, Mr. Head of Mission Planning." Ron smiled back at his friend and both started to work on a way of handling what they had in hands: which was pretty much nothing to begin with.
