Harry and Ginny Potter lay on the bed beholding their newborn child. James Sirius Potter. He was finally there, between Ginny's delicate but strong arms. Hermione had left shortly after Cho to go deliver the news to the family, so there was only them three.

James was the first Weasley to not contemplate red hair, but also didn't have Harry's black one. Instead, he had a light brown, together with brown eyes that resembled not only Ginny's but the "original" James Potter he was named for. Even with those clear differences, the baby still was a perfect mixture of both his parents.

Harry was in the clouds of so much happiness. His mind wandered between paying attention to the moment and thinking about their future. He couldn't believe how excited he was to teach James his first words or how to fly and play Quidditch. Ginny stared at her son's eyes and felt her motherly love taking in. It was in that moment she figured it was not the first time she was feeling it. Although James is her first born child, the feeling of maternal love wasn't new.

After what could have been hours or merely minutes, Harry tightened his grip on Ginny's shoulder, giving it a squeeze.

"I love you both so much!" Declared Harry, giving Ginny a kiss on her forehead.

"I love you too!" She repeated, turning her head to give Harry a proper kiss. "And I love you so much, my baby boy!" She bent her head down and kissed James's forehead.

"You have so much to learn, son! And so many people to meet who already love you." Harry started as Ginny had given James for him to hold. "I have to tell you some things first. Your mother here," he paused to look into his wife's eyes. "she's the most beautiful and amazing woman I've ever met. Don't you try to mess with her, now. She will hex you into next week." Ginny giggled and he carried on. "Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron are both your godparents. You'll be sure to count on them as well as you can count on me and your Mum. As for your grandparents, I'm sorry you'll only meet two of them." On this, Ginny held Harry's arm tight, as a form of support. "Nana and Papa Potter aren't with us, but I promise you they love you very much. But you'll love Nana and Papa Weasley, nonetheless." He looked again in Ginny's tearful eyes and smiled softly as she nodded. "And there's Teddy too. He is like your big brother and he's looking forward to meet you for ages." Baby James stared deeply inside Harry's eyes, closing and opening his own. "As for me, all it really matters about me is that I'm your Dad and I love you more than my own life."

"Hold on. There's more to it, baby." Ginny talked slowly and yet passionately. "Your Dad is the most successful wizard alive. He has saved our world from a really bad man and died in the process. How he came back to us is a really long story and I'm sure you'll hear all about it when you're older, but your Dad is a hero, my hero, our hero. I thought you should know that."

Harry was grinning self-consciously. He never came around the fact Ginny held him in such high grounds. He felt so lucky to have a woman like her to love him. "Gin?"

"Hm."

"Should I get everyone?"

"Bring Teddy first. I want him to meet James alone."

"Excellent idea!" Harry beamed and gave her James back, before rising himself from the bed.

"Harry?" Ginny called when he reached the door. "Thank you."

Harry looked confused. "For what?"

"For giving me purpose in my life."

Harry came back to the bed, kissed his wife deeply and whispered in her ear. "I really think it is the other way around."
