TW: crying
Esme's POV
We both get dragged away to separate rooms so we could say goodbye to our families. Haymitch's family neglects him a lot, and I don't think they've came to say goodbye. I pace myself around the room, body weak and mind full. The door opens and I see Adam, Abigail and Daniel rush in to hug me.
"Adam, listen to me. Do whatever it takes to keep them alive. Please. Do you hear me?" - Esme
He nods and kisses my head preventing his tears to flow. I bend down and hug my siblings as they cry hard into my shoulder. We break apart and I see Abigail holding her necklace.
"Take it, so you will have courage, to fight for us." - Abigail
Her necklace was silver with a spearhead as the pendant with unique patterns on it. I place it around my neck and hug them both again.
"Abigail, you have to be strong now. Be there for Daniel. You know what to do now, I've taught you. I will win, I will win for the both of you." - Esme
The guards escaped them out of the room as I hear they both scream.
"I LOVE YOU!" - Esme
Time Skip - leaving
Me, Haymitch, and Farren were all escorted to our train as we set off for the capitol. I stayed at the rear end of the train as I see district 12 disappear from view. I hear the automatic door open and I jump, only to see Haymitch. He sees my tears and necklace in hand and silently goes to sit next me as we see our home disappear for possibly the last time.
"You will stay alive. I will die just so you can win. You deserve it. I have a shit family, but you do. They need you, as they need you. Don't let them down." - Haymitch
I stay silent as I stare at the pendant. It reminds me of haymitch, he is good with spears.
"Teach me. Teach me how to survive. Teach me to live, for them." - Esme
