Esme's POV

It was the first day of training, all the sponsors were going to observe us. Me and haymitch walk into the arena and see weapons and survival stations. Many of the other victors were older and one or two were younger. Me and haymitch decide to keep to ourselves and train together.

After hours of training, we were all going to be paired with other districts to fight against. Haymitch got paired with a girl his age, she was shy with ginger hair. I got paired with a guy from district 1. He had dark hair and was twice the size of me, his name was Carl Turnbull, he volunteered.

"Ha! Think I'm sparing that weak girl, you got another thing comin'" - Carl

This got me so worked up, I grabbed the nearest spear and threw it straight past his head, it landed into a practice dummy. He turned around and looked at me wide eyed.

"I'm not a weak girl, I'm stronger than you'll ever be." - Esme

Time Skip - After training

I was being shouted at by Farren for nearly injuring another district before the games begun, and how serious it is.

"Are you right in the head!? This reflects on us all you know!" - Farren

"Hey, hey! It's okay. She didn't kill him yet. Loosen your corset and have a drink. She made an impression, which is what we need." - Haymitch

Time Skip - Sparing results

Ceasar was just about to announce what our results was on our sparing. I think I did quite well, haymitch did really well too. Hopefully my quarrel with Carl didn't effect my score. As he starts to announce the other districts scores Haymitch's score is about to be announced.

"Haymitch Abernathy, District 12. A score of 10/15."

We all celebrate and pay his back. I smile at him and await my score.

"Esme Grace Sullivan, District 12. A score of 14/15."

Wait really!? Wow! That's amazing!
