_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________Annoying. That was the only thought that rang in Naru's mind as he ate his food trying to contain his anger at his sister's rambling. Ever since she and his mother came back from the park, she kept on going on and on about a guy she met there who takes 'magical' pictures. Raphael, his older brother, seemed happy hearing her sound so cheerful. His father kept on chuckling and saying, "I see, I see." Every time he had the chance. Though even in this very cheerful atmosphere, the black eye bags in each of their eyes was visible, except well for Naru and his sister.
When he had enough, Naru stood up shaking the dining table with the gesture and glared at his sister. She quickly quiet down and Raphael shot him a disapproving look as his father sighed. Naru just ignored them as he entered the bathroom. As he got the water running, he looked at the mirror to see cerulean blue eyes staring back covered with hair of an orchid orange shade. He splashed his face with water before brushing his hair back with his wet hand, pushing it away from his eyes.
He looked at the mirror again, trying to decipher an unseen code. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he forced himself to look away, stopping the running water as well. Nothing has been easy since Mathew's death the other day. His mother has been crying her eyes out, his father isn't getting any sleep and might actually end up drinking if he continues like this, and Raphael, well, after crying for a few hours, is trying to keep the family together though is doing little progress. His sister, Polly, seems to be trying to cheer everyone up even though she needs it the most, and it's annoying him more than it is helping. He? Well he, you know, does...stuff? Okay, so he isn't helping much, and doesn't give that much of thought about Mathew's death, but can you blame him? I mean he, he... okay you may blame him.
Naru does know at the very least that he has to help in some way, but how can he help with something he doesn't understand. His little brother died, so what? Mourning and wasting time won't bring him back from the afterlife, will it? Call him cold, but he calls himself a realist. He sighed as he reached his room and looked outside the window at the dark night sky. "I wish you happiness wherever you are right now, Mathew." He said to no one in particular. Sure I said he pays little to no mind at all about Mathew's death but I never said that he didn't care.
As he watched the twinkling stars, his mind went off to the meteorite. Ever since its crash, he realized that whenever they go out, Polly keeps on looking at things that aren't there and jumping away from nothing at all! He's almost sure that the meteorite's gas got to her but she keeps on denying it so he has no idea what to do about this. Tomorrow, tomorrow marks the third day of school since the start of the new semester, February 4th. 'Now that I think about it, my birthday's soon. In two months, I'm turning sixteen already.' Naruda smiled for the first time since Mathew died. Naruda opened the window letting a gust of wind inside his messy room. The tranquility of the atmosphere that moment must've got into him because he doesn't remember what happened after that.
"Naruda, hey Naruda! You'll catch a cold... We'll be late for school Naru, Naru!" Naru felt someone shake him as he heard his name being called over and over again by a familiar voice. His eyes slowly fluttered open, blinking twice before being able to fully open them. He rubbed his eyes and yawned until his eyes finally focused into that of a petite female structure with blue bell eyes, "Naru, its 7:30am, we'll miss the bus-" "What?! Why didn't you wake me up?" "I did! You just wouldn't...wake up." She looked away blushing a bit as she said those words. 'Guilty', that word screamed in Naruda's mind, he doesn't know the real reason but he's a hundred percent sure that Polly Renock was guilty of not waking him up even though she had all the time in the world to do it.
