“We were different, but somehow similar. We both co-existed in one place, in one person. We both co-exist in the sky.”

Chapter 3
the Star, the Moon, and the Sky

the Star

“ARE you in a relationship?” Laisa Madrigal woke up with a phone call and that was the words the caller first said. With eyes half open she looked at the caller ID. It was her manager. “There is no wrong with you dating, of course. But I told you to keep it quiet as much as you can! Why get caught in a scandal?”

“Janine, please. I just woke up.” she put the phone on the table, got up, yawned and did a little stretching. Her manager Janine, a single woman who is 8 years older than her is impatient on the other line but she had no choice but to wait until Laisa finally wakes up. Laisa is a high-maintenance woman. She’s obsess with routines that she requires a 3-5 minute stretching exercises every morning to fully wake up. And that’s not everything.

Janine knew the drill, but her strings are snapping due to the pressure the agency is putting at her and from the netizens too. “Hell Laisa I can’t wait!”

The phone is on speaker mode and that’s how Janine’s shouting went clear to Laisa. Somehow, that shout completed this morning’s 5-minute routine.

“All right. What is it?” sitting on a chair on the table and turning off speaker mode and taking the phone to her ear, Laisa is now fully ready to listen. “Am I on the top search again? What is it about now?”

“Dating rumor, scandal.”

Without cutting off the call Laisa looked up her name. She clicked on the very first article.

“Was this yesterday? It was your day off.”

“That’s right,” she nodded, still reading the article.

“So who’s that man? A model? Actor? Things are seriously going out of hand. You know that dating news of you with James Ford just came out recently. And everyone knows this man is not James.”

She knew what her manager is talking about, since this certain article she’s reading labeled her as a hooker.

“You know that’s not true. We’re not even friends. We just did a commercial together and he’s just overly friendly. That’s how the media misunderstood.”

“And I hate that he just kept quiet.” she agreed.

What’s currently creating a buzz online was her photos taken yesterday. It was when she took the car from the publishing company and went grocery shopping. In those photos, she was with a man that is looking very close to her---- close enough to be suspected they are dating. The man on the photos were blurred, but she knew in an instant it was Gabriel. She was only with Gabriel these days, after all.

“Janine, this is Gabriel.”

“What?” Laisa can imagine her manager looking closely on the picture on its own phone screen. “Are you sure? I thought it was a celebrity!”

“Right? Gabriel actually looks more handsome than most celebrities out there!” as if on cue, Gabriel went inside the house with a box on hand. Laisa knew he will be listening, but that didn’t stopped her from flattering him. “He only needs to take off his glasses and boom! Right, Janine. Why don’t you try getting him a career on showbiz? This guy needs money.”

“You must not be taking this seriously since you’ve been on numerous scandals before but please, I need your ass here now.”

Laisa’s eyes stayed fixed on Gabriel. He is currently opening the box he was bringing. “I’ll be there after an hour. Will that be fine?”
