"Ohmygosh I'm so excited for the sports festival!!!" Mina practically squealed. "It's tomorrow, and I can't seem to calm my nerves!"

Tokoyami responded, "When are your  nerves ever calm? Besides, should we really have a festival so soon after those villains attacked?" She pouted at him.

"You're no fun. Lighten up! Hey, if you do that, maybe you'll even get third place." She elbowed him gently. Tokoyami sighed and left you two alone on the couch.

"Hey, I heard they are letting in certain people from general studies and support who scored high on the written part of the test, but failed on the practical. I don't think the business people will be competing though. How do you feel about that?"

Wow, that was interesting. That would mean a ton more competition for the students in the hero course. How many students were there at UA? You had thought that only the kids of the hero course would be participating, so that was around fifty five first year students, give or take. But with a bunch of people from general and support, your chances of winning the festival were slim. Probably most of them would be untrained in combat though.

You realized that Mina was still waiting for you to answer her question. She leaned towards you, as if expecting an answer. You dodged the question. "Well, I'm sure you will do great, with that quirk of yours. I mean, what can beat acid rain, right?" She nodded in response.

"Guess we will just have to see."

"LAAAAYYYYDAIIIESSS aNd GEEENTTLEMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeNNNN, welcome to the UA sports festival!!!!!!" Present Mic prattled on the loudspeaker, announcing the games. Midnight revealed that the first task was to complete an obstacle course. It couldn't be that bad, right? You were very wrong.

Midnight flashed her whip in the air. "BEGIN!"

All the first years rushed through the gate, wanting to be the first one to the end of the course. There were so many other participants in the sports festival, even more than you had thought were in the entirety of U. A. If you were to change into cat form, you would be trampled.

Even before everyone was out of the gate, Todoroki froze the ground, and he skated ahead. "Hey, no fair!" Someone shouted. It was U.A.'s sports festival. Anything was fair. Since everyone had halted, you turned into a cat and used your claws to get better purchase on the ice. Soon, the other people would be coming after you. You hurried across the ice as fast as you could. It was so cold that it stung. You hoped it wouldn't give your paw pads frostbite or anything.

A giant metal hand came crashing down right next to you. Your fur stood up on end, and you hissed out of impulse. You backed away in shock. Leave those giant robots for other people to deal with. Unlike the entrance exam, it wasn't your job to defeat the robots, just to get past them. Before the robot had time to try and strike again, you bounded through its legs, intent on winning. Present Mic provided commentary for pretty much everything anyone did, to the extent that it was annoying. By now, others had figured out how to get around or through the ice, and there were quite a lot of students almost on your tail. Thankfully, the robot stopped most of them, since they were not as lithe and small as you were. You yowled in triumph, near to winning, just for it to turn into a yowl of terror. Your paws skidded to a halt before you reached the... edge?

You peered down, and immediately regretted it. In front of you was a vast, canyon-like pit. A few more misplaced pawsteps and you would be at the bottom in a crumpled pile. You paced around, and found a tightrope. You turned into a human and started crawling across it, holding tightly with your tail for balance. A few people were already ahead of you, having used their quirks to fly, float, or otherwise propel themselves across, like Bakugou. Still, the majority of people were behind you.

Once you managed to cross the first tightrope, you went through a few more, until the rocks in between the tightropes became close enough that you could just jump between them in cat form. You slowly but surely made your way across the yawning abyss, gaining speed as you went. Finally, you were at the end of the pit, and you ran as you finally stepped onto the firm ground. C L I C K! BOOM

You were blasted backward, and landed on the ground a few feet from where you had been. Ow. Your whole body hurt, and you felt lucky to be alive with such force on a small body. You couldn't hear. At first, you thought Bakugou had done it, but then you realized what had really happened as you shook your head and saw dirt flung all over, that there were mines under the ground. You were happy that you had not been in cat form, because it could have easily killed you, and your ears would be ringing more than they were now. If it had blasted slightly differently, you would not have been able to get up from such an explosion, or worse, you could have been sent flying into the giant crater behind you.

So, you had to be careful. You turned into a cat so you could go around the mines easier, using your heightened sense of smell and eyesight to carefully detect where the bombs were before taking a step. You moved slowly, carefully, looking for traces of disturbed soil and smelling for the bitter metal. If only you had cat instinct too, and nine lives, to avoid the dangerous things underground. Spectators cheered. Some people must have already passed the finish line. Many other people were all around you. Someone to your right stepped on a mine, and it blasted you. You blacked out.

You woke up. How long have I been asleep? You blinked and the sun was in your eye. There were humans all around, and loud, booming sounds from depressions in the ground. The sky smelled like smoke. You couldn't stay here, the humans behind you were scary, rushing to where you were. The only way was forward. You trotted around the smelly depressions in the ground with ease, and took off running and leaping through the ground. You went to a big group of people at the end of the place with the mines. A green-haired boy reached down. "Great job, Y/N! You beat most of the people. And look, I didn't break any bones! That's plus ultra if anything ever was!" he joked.

You were at the end of the minefield, somehow. You had beaten most of the other people! How did that happen? Deku was standing over you. "That's plus ultra if anything ever was!" He said to you.

Without context, you simply replied, "Yeah, sure."

Unlike Present Mic's babbling, Aizawa was helpful and said "Looks like Y/N is in ninth place. Good job." To receive such high praise of your grumpy teacher made you beam with happiness. Or it would have if you were human.
