You woke to a knock on your door, and glanced out the window. Had you somehow overslept? It was still dark outside. The clock read that it was only four. You groaned. If this was Mina-

Mina, overly bubbly and peppy burst into the room. You had half the mind to scratch her with your claws. Your claws. Suddenly, you saw a vision of cat-you scratching someone's arm, blood coming out of the wound. You gasped. Did you actually remember something that happened to you while in cat mode? A rush of memories, just barely out of your grasp, only flitting fragments of whatever transpired. Hitoshi's smile.

"You ok? You've been standing super still not blinking for like two minutes it's TOTALLY creeping me out!" Mina looked at you, puzzled.

"Yea, I think I'm fine. It's 4 am. Care to explain why you're here, annoying me, instead of me sleeping peacefully in my bed?"

Mina looked more than excited to share. You sighed. "Well you see, I figured out how to make a new type of acid that's really sticky." You flinched back against the wall, half-expecting her to shoot more of her prototypes at you. She laughed at the movement. "It doesn't melt through things though! Isn't that cool? So anyway, I put it on you, and you didn't come back to talk to me about how to get it  off! How did you get it off without me? I don't know how you did that! Someone else must have gotten it off for you. Anyway, let's gooooo! We are supposed to be in the common area."

"Why didn't you tell me that FIRST!" You yelled, pulling your jacket over your nightclothes.

She took your hand and lead you out into the common area, where about a fourth of your class was waiting. "Hey, what's going on?" You asked.

"Work studies. Some of the heroes wanted us to get up early." Tenya said. Oh, so that was what this was about. Tenya handing out a pile of papers to each of the students. "This shows where you are going to meet with the person you're interning with, and when you need to be there. All of the people up right now have to get to where they are going before five. If you don't get there on time, you will not be allowed to intern with the hero. It's kind of like a test." He handed you a piece of paper.

It says that you have to be at the U.A. Gate by 5. That was fine, you had a whole hour to get ready. The paper said you should dress in your hero outfit and have eaten breakfast. Still, you had a whole hour. Some of the other students were already leaving, frantically rushing to book taxis, ubers, or the subway. You went to the cafeteria, and took some cereal, since the cafeteria wasn't really open yet. That was all that was available to eat outside hours, which would have been fine, except that you were lactose intolerant being a cat, and you had to eat it dry, crunching the flakes and struggling to gulp the messy clumps down.

Next, you changed into your hero costume, which is extremely tight to allow it to stay on when you turn into a cat. It really accentuated your everything. You still had about a half hour until you had to be at the gate, but you felt no reason to wait around doing nothing, so you waited by the gate. Anxiety's a bitch. After about ten minutes, Hitoshi met you. "Hey, what are you doing here?" You asked.

"I could ask you the same thing." Ugh.

"Well, I'm here waiting until five for my internship," you said.

"Oh really? Me too, maybe the heroes are doing something together. A team-up. That would be cool." You nod. You both waited for a few moments. Hitoshi stared down at your body, noticing what you were wearing for the first time, struggling to make it out. You pretended not to notice, but you were blushing furiously. You crossed your arms and turned away from him. For once, you thanked God others couldn't see in the dark like you could.

It seemed like forever, waiting. You realized that you never actually heard back from anyone that wanted to intern you, except a questionable response from the teacher, so which hero you would actually be with was a surprise.

Finally, at five on the hour, a figure walked towards you. Hitoshi did not notice, most likely because he couldn't even see in the darkness. It was Aizawa. So, he had accepted you. Cool. He handed Hitoshi a pair of goggles like his. "Night Vision. We heroes need them during the night and early morning. Put them on."

Knowing you, your Sensei did not bring any for you. You almost purred at how well he knew you, and you were proud of how your quirk was so useful at even mundane things. Hitoshi raised the goggles and looked around. "Cool."

"Since I'm interning both of you, no fooling around. I expect the best from you, because your skill now reflects mine when out looking for trouble. I don't expect any problems from you two."

We started walking behind him as he headed into the city. "Some days, there is no crime. It can be pretty boring being a hero, but all the better to the public. However, remember that just because you're not aware of crime doesn't mean it isn't happening. I find that crime strikes most often under the cover of darkness."

He was right, it was very difficult to find anyone in need of help. You walked until your feet hurt. It was just starting to become light, the first few days shining through the horizon of buildings, and you guessed it was around six. Sometimes it really could be boring being a hero. You kicked a rock.

No sooner had the thought crossed your mind, you heard a young boy yelling. It must have been because of your cat hearing, because Aizawa and Hitoshi did not seem to notice. "Hey, I heard something over there. Can we check it out?" They followed in the direction you had been pointing, being extra quiet. The trust they both had in You was unfathomable, both immieditly following your senses without a second thought. The idea thrilled you, adrenaline rushing. You saw a gray-colored woman with eight eyes, covering a young boy in string that came out of her wrists. It reminded you of a spider. She was muttering as she did it, random nonsense. From the snippets that you caught her saying, it seemed like she was going to eat the child. She must have been crazy. The boy was yelling for help, struggling to get out of the webbing.

Aizawa motioned for you and Hitoshi to surround her with his fingers, and you both obeyed, falling into the logical positions he had taught the class. How did Hitoshi know?

When everyone was in place around her, Aizawa counted down from three on his fingers. When he got to zero, him and Hitoshi started grappling with the arachnid. Aizawa wasn't using his quirk to stop the lady, but you quickly realized that was because she had a mutant quirk; he could not nullify it. You quickly ran to where the child was wrapped up in string, and used your claws to carefully but quickly tear him out of the cocoon. You didn't want to waste time, but you also didn't want him to get scratched. When you pulled him out, he was unconscious, but still breathing. You glanced over to Hitoshi and Aizawa; they seemed to have defeated the spider-person.

"Well, let's take a trip on down to the police station. I'm taking the kid. (Y/N), do you think you can stay around this area and try to find his parents? We will be back once we are done at the station." You nod your head to Aizawa's words, having been assigned your first real hero mission. The four of them departed, the kid slung across Aizawa's shoulders and the spider lady following, presumably under the influence of Hitoshi's quirk. You shudder. What would have happened to that kid if you had not been there? Even Aizawa did not hear the child screaming for help, and heroes had been pretty close by.

You finally felt like you belonged in the hero course. They needed you.
