Staying out late that one night is probably not one of my smartest decisions, but I was young, dumb, and stupid. I was doing what all teenagers in my position would've done. I was bored, didn't want to go home right after school, my mom's boyfriend was there and I just didn't feel like talking to him, so I thought to myself,
You have no friends, luckily no homework, you don't feel like going home, so why not walk around New York for a couple of hours, stop at a McDonald's and see what happens.
That was my first mistake.
I'm very lonely, I have no friends that I can walk home with or go to their houses. I put on

my headphones as I left the school building and got onto the Subway. My house is very far away from my school, I have to take a subway that crosses throughout Manhattan. I was going to stay on the bus until it was my stop, but I decided to leave early and walk through Manhattan.
It was going fine. So far, I was just walking around blasting angsty rock from the 90s in my headphones. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings, just lost in my world of thought. I walked for a good couple of hours and my legs got tired, so I decided to look around and find the nearest coffee shop. I had walked into a deserted part of town and there were few coffee shops in sight. I lifted my head

and took my headphones off. This was the first time I had stopped to look where I was and who was around me. People walked past me, not acknowledging me, the usual, but there was one guy who was following me. I caught him out of the corner of my eye.
Maybe he isn't following me, I thought, I'll do a loop and if he's still behind me I'll panic.
I did the loop and he was still there. This man was following me and I was scared, I felt him getting closer and I kept walking quickly. I realized I was close to home so I decided to go to the subway station. I did and he followed me. I hopped onto the crowded bus, and he hopped on too. I got off after a few minutes and hoped to lose him in the crowd of people walking out, but

he was still there. He got close to me, he was an inch away from me, so I decided to run. I ran, not looking behind me. I found my house opened the door and quickly slammed it, I was safe and this man was nowhere in sight.
"Mom, I'm home", I yelled.
No answer, instead I walked into the living room and was met with the sight of my mother and her boyfriend lying on the ground with holes in their chests, bleeding, and not breathing. I screamed and the man who had been following me emerged from the walls with a gun and shot me right there.
