"Let's go to a haunted house!", my friend said. "No", I said.
"Come on! It'll be fun. You like scary stuff", she said."Yeah. I like scary books that I can read and I know are fictional. I like scary decorations because I know they are plastic. I like scary movies because they are on screen. I don't like people jumping and scaring you", I said, feeling annoyed.
"What a wuss", she said, "Come on, I already bought tickets".
"Take someone else", I said.
"I don't have any other friends".
This was her trick into getting me to go, but I felt bad for her, so I agreed.
On Halloween night, I reluctantly went to this haunted house. The theme was a mental asylum. All these actors were screaming andacting like demented asylum patients. I was screaming and yelling, I couldn't stand all the flashing lights. All the screams. All the very realistic face paint.
"Isn't this fun?", she asked.
"It's scary, but fun", I said.
"I told you you'd like it", she laughed.
We heard screams ahead, and we laughed because we knew that it was going to get even scarier.
Nearing the end of the haunted house, I heard a scream. This scream was different. It didn't sound like the screams we'd heard before. It was filled with pure, genuine terror. My friend didn't notice and just continued laughing."Come on", she said, tugging on my arm, and dragging me further.
We walked towards the place, and this girl was giving us this stare. I was frightened.
It's not real, I told myself. It's not real, It's not real.
She then reached into our chests and pulled out our hearts.
