chapter 30

Lucy's pov

Me and Toni was sat in the back while Brett and Tricia was in the front, I leaned my head against Toni's shoulder, "I'm sorry, I wasn't there to stop him" I hear her say quietly, I lifted my head to look at her "hey it wasn't your fault, you didn't know what was going to happen" I said intertwining our fingers "I know I just wish I could have done more" she said I could see the defeat in her eyes, "look you put him on his ass, again and you beat the shit out of him" I said I placed my hand on her cheek "and I'm glad you beat his ass" I said leaning closer giving her a kiss on the cheek, "and so am i dude..." we heard Brett say in the front, we both laugh as we turn up to the hospital, I got out the car and helped Toni out the door, we walked to the front desk, "welcome to A&E, please sign this form and we will get to you as quickly as we can" the lady at the desk said, both my brother and Toni took a form, we went and sat down in the waiting room as they filled them out, I took them both back to the front desk as the others sat waiting, I came back and saw Toni was talking to someone, the same guy who pulled her off ben, I walked over to them "oh hey, I'm sorry for what he did to you" he said as he got up from the seat and let me sit back down next to her, "this is Sam he's friends with ben" Toni said I looked to her and back to him, "he came out a second ago saying he's got a broken nose and bruised ribs, but he deserves it..." he said looking to us both.

"why are you friends with him when you know he does these type of things to girls" Toni says, he drops his head "I don't know, I've known him for ages and I uh... have no explanation I'm sorry to both of you" he said, I took her hand in mine as a door to a room opened revelling him, I tensed up as he looked around the room and landed his eyes in our direction, he started walking over to us "why are you with these dykes" he said Brett and Sam got up, but Sam pushed him back before Brett could get close "dude that's not cool, you know what find your own way home, I can't be friends with you if you're going to be homophonic" he said as he kept pushing him out the door away from us, I relaxed feeling Toni's hand in mine, "Antoinette Cortez" someone said, I felt her hand move from mine "I'll be quick" she said placing a kiss on my cheek, she left and I was left with Tricia and Brett but he went in a few seconds after, "hey she's going to be fine" Tricia said as she moved next to me, I looked to her and smiled "I know" I said.

"so how are you" she said, I looked up from my phone, "I'm okay I guess, I know he can't hurt me" I said it took about an hour, when Toni came out I noticed she had a brace around her wrist, "hey guys" she said as she sat down on the other side to me, she placed her hand in mine as we wait for Brett to come out, "so what they say about your hand" Tricia said, Toni looked to us both, "well I've sprained my wrist and my knuckles might be broken or they could just be bruised, but if I want to play this Friday, I have to take it easy" she said with a smile, she brought our hands up to her lips, "but if it meant protecting you, I would do it all again" she said, smiled at her I rested my head on her shoulder as we waited for my brother to come out, we sat for another thirty minutes when he came back out, he had a cast on his wrist "hey guys, my hands broken hence the cast, so no football " he said with a defeated look, I got up and gave him a hug "I'm sorry" I said he pushed us apart and looked me in the face, "why are you saying sorry, I would have done the exact same thing but maybe more if it meant protecting you" he said, I laughed at his comment, "that's what I said" I hear Toni say from behind me.

We drove back to Toni's, for the rest of the night we watched films to the break of dawn, I don't know what time it was when we all fell asleep but I knew everything was going to be fine because I was in her arms, me and Toni took her room, while everyone else slept down stairs, I woke up to an empty bed and Toni walking through the door with a tray of food, she shut the door quietly I couldn't help but laugh as I watched her struggle with the tray, "hey sleeping beauty, I thought I'd bring you breakfast in bed" she said as she walked over to the bed placing the tray in front of us, she got back in bed sitting next to me, "wow, I do feel like a princess, but with doing all of this have you tested your levels" I asked as I sat up making sure not to spill anything over, she nods her head smiling, "yep I'm 6.5, and I've already given my insulin, 5 units as I'm only having toast" she says smiling, I stretch to pick my phone up to see that it was 7 in the morning, 2 hours before school "your brother went home to get you some clothes but I said you could borrow some of mine if you wanted" she said as she took a slice of toast, "if you don't mind, that is" I said taking the other slice of toast, she had made me eggs and toast for breakfast she gave me a peck on the cheek, "of course I don't, my clothes are on the right" she said as she got up and walked over to her wardrobe, she pulled out a pair of ripped jeans and a plaid shirt, I watched her as she got dressed for school she kept her shirt unbuttoned at the top showing of her short crop top, I couldn't take my eyes of her, I choked on my eggs when she caught me staring.

"you really like what you see huh" she said with a smirk, I couldn't help but smile I finished the breakfast and pushed it to one side and got of the bed, I walked over to her pulling her into a sweet kiss which got heated quickly, "argh sorry guys, forgot to knock" we broke apart seeing Tricia standing in the door way, "I was just wondering if you guys wanted a lift into school" she said placing her hand over her eyes, I laughed at how stupid she looked, "you don't have to cover your eyes" Toni said moving from my grip, she walked over to the wardrobe, she started to pull out some clothes "will these fit you" she said passing me a pair of jeans and a shirt, I walked into the bathroom so I could get changed, I walked out into the room seeing Toni sat on her bed on her phone, I didn't change my top I just kept her jumper on, she looked up and smiled "still wearing that huh" she said I smiled as I walked over to her I sat on her lap and gave her a passionate kiss, "we will be late for school if we don't move now and Tricia won't like it" she said I got up and took her hand we walked out the door downstairs, where Tricia was waiting patiently in the living room, she picks up her bag and I follow Toni to the kitchen she picks up her bag and keys, "you driving huh" I say she smiles and connects our lips "yes, yes I am" she says as she walks to her car.
