Sydney went back to the last market she stopped in.

'Maybe if I explain my situation they won't need an address until I find a place'. She said to herself. She walked in the door and the bell overhead rang with ding.

"Can I help you" the lady behind the counter said.

"You sure can. My name is Sydney and I just got to New York about 4 days ago, I'm living in a shelter and I'm trying to find a job, are you guys doing any hiring" Sydeny said politely.

"Actually, my dad owns the store, I just work here part time to make some extra cash after school, hang on and let me ask him" the lady said.

Sydney went around the store, waiting for the girl to come back. She came across a fudge round and flashedback to a Valentine's Day with John.

"This is for my one and only true love" John said as he laid a box and flowers down in front of her.

"All for me? John you shouldn't have" Sydney said as she lifted the top off of the box. She gasped, it was a movie date in a box. A big blanket, box of popcorn, The Notebook DVD, and a fudge round, cause John knew it was her favorite junk food.

Sydney jerked around as the girl touched her arm "oh I'm sorry, you startled me" Sydney said to the girl.

"I'm very sorry, my dad said he is looking for a part time cashier, if your interested" the girl said.

"I'm very interested, anything that will help pay the bills" Sydney said as they both laughed.

"Well, he said you can start today if you'd like" the girl said.

"YES!" Sydney said excitedly. "I really need the money to get out of that shelter asap"

"Awesome, you can spend the day stocking fruit and vegetables" the girl said. "Oh, by the way, my name is Lily"

"Sydney" she said shaking her hand. "Very nice to meet you"

Sydney put on her apron and began to work. She was so happy she had something to keep her busy.

Time went by, and the manager came to tell her it was time to go. "You got a lot done today, your a pretty hard worker" he said.

"Thank you, anything to keep me busy" Sydney replied.

"My daughter told me your story, and I like to think good of people, since your a pretty hard worker, how much of an advance do you need to get out of the shelter?" He questioned.

"Oh you don't have to do that, I can wait" Sydney said.

"Nonsense, I like to help people" he said.

Sydney thought for a minute, then pulled the flyer out of her purse, $250 a month, she read. "Well I found a room for rent for $250" Sydney replied.

"Then I will give you $300, $50 bonus for being the best first day employee I've had" he said with a wink. "I'll be right back"

Sydney was so excited. She pulled out her phone and dialed Deans number. "Hello, is this Dean, I ran into you the other day, literally, when you were putting up the flyers for the room, is it still available for rent" Sydney asked.

"Yes, it is, would you like to come and look at it" Dean replied.

"I would very much" Sydney said

"The address is 809 College St" Dean told her.

"Thanks, I'll stop by within a few hours if that's ok" Sydney questioned

"Thats perfect, see you then" Dean replied as he hung up.

Sydney put her phone back in her purse as her manager walked back up with $300 cash. "I know not a lot of renters want a check, so here is cash" he said with a smile.

"Thank you so much, if you need a shift filled or have any overtime, give me a call" Sydney said as she wrote down her phone number.

"Thank you for being such a hard worker on your first day, it shows promise, my name is Frank"

"Sydney, nice to meet you Frank" she said with a smile.

Sydney took her apron off, told Frank and Lily she would see them tomorrow, and set out to look at the room for rent.

When she got to Dean's apartment, she was so nervous to knock on the door that she stood outside for 10 minutes. She had had really bad luck with men recently. And moving in with a complete stranger was a little more than just crazy.

She finally knocked on the door, and Dean opened it with a smile. "Hey, you again, didn't I just see you the other day" he said as he winked at her. "Come on in and take a look around"

Sydney walked in and was immediately greeted by 2 small dogs.

"Oh my gosh, they are the cutest, I love pugs, what are their names" Sydney said as she dropped down and started to pet the dogs.

"Well, the boys name is Bruno and the girls name is Sam, short for Samantha" he replied.

"Awe, my mother's middle name is Samantha" Sydney said.

Dean was takin aback. He knew when he seen her the other day there was something about her he couldn't shake, now he knew what.
