When they got to the agency, Bakugou had to help Odori out of the car, her back causing more frustration. After getting inside, Maire walked to where Midoriya was staying and brought him out. The look that Midoriya gave Maire when he was walking with her was mysterious. Maire was pretty good at understanding body language and facial expressions, but his eyes were empty, blank, dead. Maire sat him down at one side of the room, locking his cuffs to a metal bar on the table, rendering him unable to move. When Odori and Bakugou sat down in the room with him, Maire shut the door behind them and put on a headset that would allow her to listen to what they were saying and to talk to them herself. Maire took a deep breath, closing her eyes as her quirk activated. She felt the presence of 3 individuals in front of her, but nothing else. As Maire opened her eyes, she could see Midoriya looking at her through the window. He felt it, the activation of her quirk, the slightly ticklish sensation making his body tense up. "Okay Midoriya, we are gonna ask you some questions and you will answer them." Odori spoke, bringing his attention back to the present. "You have no choice but to fully cooperate." Bakugou added. "Understood?" Bakugou said, narrowing his gaze at Midoriya. The green haired boy nodded slowly. "Good," Bakugou said. "First question. How and when did you come in contact with the league?" Odori asked as seriously as possible. "I was in the hospital after I jumped and they kidnapped me. I guess one of them used a quirk to bring me back to life and I've been serving them for about 12 years." Midoriya responded truthfully. "Why did you join them? I mean, what stopped you from disobeying them." Odori asked. His eyes widened, his gaze shifting suddenly to look at the floor. "Answer the goddamn question Deku!" Bakugou demanded angrily. Midoriya's gaze suddenly shifted upwards, his eyes were worried and stern. "They said that they would kill everyone I've ever loved and cared for, and I couldn't let them do that." He spoke, his voice breaking slightly as his emotions returned full force. Odori, Bakugou, and Maire's expressions were filled with shock. Midoriya looked out the window at Maire, making eye contact with her again. "They said that they would kill Maire, and make me watch as they struck her down." He said in a saddened voice, tears threatening to spill over. Maire clutched her mouth with her hands, tears streaming down her face as her breath hitched. Odori noticed immediately, getting up and running out of the room to comfort her best friend. Maire's knees gave way as she crumpled onto the floor, her whole body shaking as her sobs rang through the halls. Midoriya got up from his chair, easily breaking the cuffs holding him to the table, and made his way towards the door only to be stopped by Bakugou. "Let me through Kacchan." Midoriya said in a desperate but determined tone. When he didn't move, Midoriya yelled at him to get out of the way, but Bakugou didn't budge. "I'm not gonna let you hurt her anymore!" Bakugou yelled back, catching Midoriya off guard. "Do you see what you did to her when you decided to jump! She was heartbroken and depressed for years Deku, and it's your fault!" Bakugou yelled angrily, ignoring the pain and shock in Midoriya's eyes. "Shut up Bakugou!" Maire yelled through the speakers. "Let him through, or I will move you myself." Her voice was breaking, but angry. Bakugou growled under his breath, reluctantly moving out of the way to let him through. As soon as he got through the door, Midoriya ran to Maire and cradled her in his arms, letting her cry into his chest. Maire's arms hugged his body, squeezing him gently. Odori's breathing slowed, she hated seeing her best friend like this, and she hated herself even more when she realized she couldn't do anything about it because her feet refused to move. Bakugou walked up behind Odori and put his hand on her shoulder. "I'll go make coffee, move Bakugou." She finally said, collecting herself. She pushed Bakugou's hand away angrily, not exactly angry at him, but more at herself. Before Odori could walk away, Maire grabbed her hand, squeezing it gently. "Please don't go, I need you as much as I need him." Maire said, her eyes soft but sad. Maire looked at Midoriya with a soft smile and he reciprocated her grin, kissing her forehead, then letting her go. Maire got on her feet and walked towards Odori with her arms outstretched. "Come on, I know that you want one Firecracker." Maire said playfully, a goofy smile on her face. Odori's expression changed immediately, revealing her true emotions, the ones she was trying to cover up earlier. Odori chuckled, wiping away the tears on her face. "It's been a while since you called me that, Nerd." Odori said, with a big smile on her face. She walked into Maire's embrace, ruffling her golden locks in the process. "Hey, don't do that." Maire said, giggling slightly. She ruffled Odori's hair in return, giving her a small squeeze. When Odori closed her eyes to chuckle, Maire flicked her gently in the forehead, running off in the other direction, laughing loudly. Odori chased after her yelling "Get back here you little sneak." "Try to catch me, I dare you." Maire yelled back. Seeing her happy again made the smile on Midoriya's face grow. He chuckled lightly, sighing in contentment. Now that is why I fell for you, Midoriya thought to himself, smiling brightly as a small blush creeped onto his face. Bakugou watched the two girls, crossing his arms. The smirk he usually wore turned into a real happy smile. This was the side of Odori he had been wanting to see for a few months, but she never let her emotions surface. It honestly made him happy Midoriya was back, Maybe he's the reason everything is going back to normal. Bakugou thought, then almost immediately scolded himself for thinking something so absurd. "Alright you win." Odori said, gasping for breath. "Why do you always have to win?!" She said, leaning against the wall. "Maybe it's because you love me too much to let me lose, Odori." Maire said, her chest heaving as a smile was still present on her face. Odori continued to rage at Maire, making her laugh when suddenly she felt something from her quirk. Maire's eyes squeezed shut and she felt someone's unwelcome presence. "Odori shhhh, someone's here." She said, two of her fingers now touching the side of her head. "There are 3 of them, heading towards us." Maire spoke as she analyzed the force of their footsteps, calculating their approximate weight and build. A picture formed in her head of one of the three villains. Her eyes immediately snapped open as she recognized the villain immediately. "Shigaraki is here, and he's coming straight for us." Maire said, now preparing for the fight of her life.
