"Even though that looks kind of good," Biana said, staring at the big pile of funnel cake in front of Sophie, Tam, and Linh. "I am not betraying my vegan beliefs for a pastry."
Dex stared at the cake too. "Well, technically I could have some—since I'm vegetarian and not vegan—but I kind of felt bad leaving you without any,"
Biana smiled. "Thanks, Dex—and besides, these candy-apples are delicious,"
Dex nodded, "Agreed,"
Sophie silently chuckled as she took a piece of the funnel cake and ate it, letting it melt in her mouth. That was probably her favorite part about going to the fair: she got to eat funnel cake and drink lemonade.
Realizing she didn't have any lemonade, she turned to Dex. "Hey, you wanna go with me to get everyone a drink?"
Dex looked at his candy apple, and then a Sophie, then back to his candy apple, before saying, "Sure,"
Sophie smiled as she and Dex walked over to one of the tents where they were selling drinks. There was a small line, so the two of them waited for their turn.
Dex smiled. "You know, I've been thinking—"
"That's dangerous," Sophie said with a laugh.
"Ha, ha, you're so funny," He said with a small smile. "But really, maybe sometime this week, you, Biana, and I should look for jobs."
Sophie blinked. "Wait, you want to get a job with Biana?!"
Dex laughed. "No way—I just thought it'd be cool if the three of us looked together," He said, then his face got a little pink. "I mean, unless that's weird. I just thought it'd be a good idea if we killed three birds with one stone and—"
"It's a good idea," Sophie assured him with a laugh. "Maybe we can look around town all week and see if any places have a job opening."
Dex nodded as they moved closer up in the line. "Yeah, sounds good,"
When they finally got everyone's drink, Sophie got a text on her phone. When she checked, she saw it was from Biana.
It read: I told Tam to try and win me a stuffed animal, so that's what we're doing. Try to find us!
Sophie rolled her eyes before telling Dex about the text.
"You know, maybe I don't want to go all week looking for jobs with Biana," He grumbled as they started walking. "I don't even know where we're going,"
Sophie laughed. "It's okay Dex—we'll find them. And if we don't, we'll just leave without them. Sound good?"
Dex laughed. "Sounds great,"

"So now we have ten stuffed animals and four key-chains," Sophie said, counting their prizes. "You are really good at carnival games."
Dex nodded. "What can I say? I really like stuffed animals. Now," He said, looking at the toys. "What're we going to name them?"
Sophie looked over the prizes before grabbing a soft hippo plushy. "This one should be called Jameson. I don't know why, but he's giving me those vibes."
Dex smiled. "I agree—and I think this Lion should be named Albert."
Sophie nodded, and they spent the next five minutes naming all the cute stuffed animals. They ended up with Jameson the Hippo, Albert the Lion, Viki the Penguin, Poppy the Turtle, Ted the Sloth, Tori the Elephant, Hannibal the Pufferfish, Bob the Seal, Happy the Pug, and Oscar the Panda Bear.
