As Sophie woke up that morning, she reached over to the jar and pulled out a slip of paper. She smiled as she read the note: Live every day like it's your last!
There were only ten slips of paper left in the jar, so Keefe coming back home was only ten days away.
Sophie put the note in her drawer and got out of bed, changing into a summer-y outfit and heading downstairs.
"Hey Edaline," Sophie said. "What's for breakfast?"
Edaline smiled before sliding her a plate of bacon and toast.
"Yum," Sophie said, taking a bite of the toast and smiling. "Thanks, Edaline."
She continued to eat, and once she was done, she decided to start online shopping for Biana's birthday since it was coming up in a month.
She went into the living room and sat on the couch, searching up some Biana-esque things from Amazon.
She looked for a few minutes before she decided to play a movie to keep her entertained while she searched for gifts. She played Happy Feet and sang along to all of the songs with a smile.
By the time the film was over, Sophie had put three things in her cart and decided to choose one later.
Sophie was about to head outside and see the animals before Grady came in.
"Hey kiddo," He said. "What're you doing?"
"Well, I just finished looking for gifts for Biana's birthday," She said. "And I was just about to go outside and visit Silveny and Greyfell."
Grady nodded. "Well, I'll be with the cows, so just come over if you need anything."
Sophie smiled and nodded before the two of them walked outside together, parting ways once their arrived at the pastures.
Sophie smiled as she reached the two horse and pet their noses. She climbed onto the fence and was about to jump onto the other side, but then she got a text from Dex.
She looked at the text and read it. It said: Hey, we're all going out to get some ice cream, wanna come?
Sophie smiled before getting off the fence and going to see Grady. "Hey Grady, I'm going to hang out with my friends."
Grady nodded. "On your way back home can you get us some paper towels and maybe some food?"
Sophie smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "Sure thing,"

"It's finally Summer," Linh announced as they all met together that evening to get some ice cream at their usual spot.
"I'm so excited to go to Hawaii," Biana said with a grin. "And I'm excited for my birthday next month. Remember Dex," She said, looking at him. "You have to help plan it."
"Don't worry," Dex said, shoving his ice-cream in his mouth. "I've already talked to your parents and we've come up with a really cool party."
Biana smiled. "Good, because I want this birthday to be perfect. Fitz is coming back for it and...Sophie, is Keefe coming for the summer?"
Sophie smiled and nodded. "He is,"
"Good," Biana said. "I can't wait!"
They continued to talk about their summer plans until they all finished their ice cream and decided it was time to go.
"It's seven o'clock," Dex said, looking at his phone. "Do you guys want to go get some dinner?"
Sophie bit her lip. "I can't," She told them. "Grady wanted me to pick up some food and paper towels. But you guys can go ahead and eat without me—I'll see you tomorrow."
They all nodded, and Sophie walked away from her friends and to her car. She got in and started to drive farther into town to find out where to get the food at.
She drove by a few fast-food restaurants before she decided with Zaxby's. She hadn't eaten at Zaxby's in a while, so she was pretty excited.
She parked her car, got out, and made her way into the restaurant. She saw that there were a few people in a line, so she stood and waited for a few minutes.
After a little bit, she finally got to order. She walked up to the counter and smiled at the lady behind the cash register.
"Hello," She said. "What can I get for you?"
"Um," Sophie looked at the menu one more time before saying, "I'd like three Kickin' Chicken Sandwich meals."
The lady nodded and put in her order. The receipt came out and she handed it to her along with three drinks. "That'll be $18.99,"
Sophie nodded and handed the lady her debit card before she got it back and went to fill up their drinks.
She got Grady a coke, she got Edaline some sweet Tea, and she got herself some Lemonade. She had to wait a little longer before she got a hold of her food and made her way to her car.
She drove to Walmart and made her way to the back of the store. She grabbed a big pack of paper towels before she decided to buy herself a few things.
She browsed through the store for a bit before she decided on getting herself some snacks, some new shampoo, and a calendar so she could keep track of everything.
Sophie then finished buying all the stuff and made her way back to her car. She put her stuff in the back, got in, and made her way back home.
She drove for five minutes before she was met with an intersection. Thankfully, there was no one coming so she started to drive forward.
But, before she could get half-way past the road, a truck from the other part of the intersection came racing by and it crashed into Sophie's car, turning it upside own and onto the other road.
Sophie suddenly saw her life flash before her eyes.
A small, blonde girl getting adopted by two really kind looking people. Not having any close friends from kindergarten to eighth grade. Finding out she was moving from New York to California and crying. Loving her new house because of how beautiful it was. Meeting Dex on the bus. Hating Maruca the first time she'd met her. Meeting Tam, Linh and Marella at lunch. Biana doing her hair even though she didn't know her. Crushing on Fitz and meeting Keefe. Having window sleepover parties with Keefe, going to Prom.
Then, a sudden jerk pulled her out of her memories and her body felt numb. Then, after another jerk, all she could do was sit there, upside down.
She had no idea what was going on, and she didn't know how long she sat there, but she could eventually hear muffled voices and see bright red and blue lights.
She was going to call for help, but before she could, everything became black.
