"So, what's your talent going to be?" Linh asked Sophie that afternoon as they walked to their cars after school. "The Talent Show is tonight, after all."

"I know," Sophie said, biting her lip. "but it's a surprise—you'll have to see tonight. What're you doing for yours?"

"Tam and I were going to do a dance routine together, but since he's sick, I'll be doing it by myself." She told Sophie. "I had to modify a few things, but I think I've got it."

"Woah," Sophie said as they reached their cars. "That's going to be great. Well, I'll see you tonight."

Linh nodded before they both got into their cars and drove away.

Sophie didn't go straight home or to work (she'd taken the day off), instead she went to the mall to pick out an outfit for the talent show tonight.

As she walked into the mall, she decided to go to Della's dress shop since she knew that there'd be good outfits there.

But as she walked to the back counter to greet the mom of two of her friends, she was shocked to find that someone else was there.

"Biana?" Sophie asked as she walked up to the counter. "You...work here?"

Biana grinned. "Yep! After I'd gotten home from seeing Tam that one day, I started complaining about how I was never going to find a job, so my mom said that she'd let me work here. Isn't it great?"

"It is," Sophie said with a grin. "It suits you,"

"Thanks," She said before clearing her throat. "So...what can I do for you?"

Sophie smiled. "Well, the foxfire Talent Show's tonight, and I need an outfit. I don't want anything fancy, just something nice."

Biana nodded. "Why don't you go to one of the dressing rooms and I'll bring over some options?"

Sophie nodded before heading over to the first dressing room and stepping inside, locking the door.

She couldn't help but smile that Biana had gotten such a perfect job. She was working with her mom, dealing with people she could be sociable with, and spending her days surrounded by sparkly dresses.

Sophie was super proud of her.

After five minutes, Biana came back with seven dresses for Sophie to try on. They were all super pretty, and none of them had an excessive amount of sparkles or frills.

After ten minutes of trying on dresses, Sophie finally found the perfect one. It was a black halter-dress with splats of different colors all over it. It was absolutely perfect for Sophie and what she was going to be doing at the Talent Show.

"It's so pretty," Biana said, taking it up to the counter where her mom was at. "Mom, Sophie wants to buy this dress."

Della smiled, taking the dress and punching a few things into the keyboard in front of her. "That's going to be $130.45,"

Sophie nodded, taking out her debit card—she'd gotten it attached to her mom's account not long after she'd gotten her job—and handing it to her.

Della swiped the card before handing it back to Sophie. Then, she wrapped the dress in a sparkly teal bag with a big white bow. "Here you go Sophie," She said, handing it to her. "Good luck tonight."

Sophie smiled as she took the bag. "Thank you," Then she exited the store and made her way out of the mall and to her car.
