1.5 A Second

"We're here." Luke says pulling up outside a fancy hotel, a young boy waiting to take Luke's key to drive it into a parking spot. I take a deep breath and reach for the door handle.

"You can do this." I whisper to myself before stepping out and letting the young boy drive away. I turn to look at Luke and he smiles,

"It's going to be okay." He tells me putting his hand out.

I shake my head, "I don't think it will be Luke. You were right let's just go back to the apartment, this is a bad idea."

"Zoe at least try, please? For me." He says grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the entrance. I squeeze his hand tighter and tighter as we get closer to the room with my mum's name and her husband's name on in calligraphy.

"Lilly-Ann and Edward?" Luke asks me, I nod my head and he slowly opens the door a little to see whether they were still eating.

"I can see your mum talking to an old women, the party's started." Luke says.

"Nope! I've changed my mind." I say going to run away, he grabs my hand and pulls me towards him.

"You can do this." He tells me cupping my face in his hands, I look at him and nod. Just as I was about to say something the white wooden door was pulled open and a women in a white dress stood on the other side.

"Zoe?" She said, I pulled away from Luke and looked at her.

"Mum." I smile.

"Oh my God, I didn't think you'd- I can't believe it." She rambles before pulling me into a hug. I look at Luke with wide eyes as he tries to hide his smile with a lip bite.

"Come in! You have to meet Edward, is Alana with you?" She asks, I look at Luke before looking back at her.

"She didn't want to come." I whisper, she nods and takes my hand.

"I understand, but I'm really happy that you came Zoe. After all, I thought you were the one who hated me the most." She says with small tears in her eyes, I shake my head and wipe her eyes for her.

"Hating get's old after a while."

"You're so grown up." She smiles looking me up and down.

"Thanks."

"Who's this lovely gentleman?" She asks looking at Luke with a smile.

"This is Luke."

"Nice to put a face to a name Mrs Kale, or should I say Mrs Fort." He smiles shaking her hand.

"Mrs Fort." She laughs looking at me, "It's so weird to say that."

"Especially when you used to be Lily-Ann Page." I smile, her laughter fades and she looks at me.

"Zoe-."

"Let's go meet Edward!" I say rushing past her and into the reception. I look around the room and freeze, this wedding must have cost a lot.

"He's this way." She said taking my arm just as Luke grabbed my hand, she led us over to man who was smiling brightly at her as she walked over.

"Edward, this is one of my daughters, Zoe." She tells him, his face widens as he looks at me.

"Hi Zoe! I'm Edward, it's lovely to finally meet you." He smiles shaking my hand.

"Nice to meet you too."

"I take it your other sister didn't want to come?" Edwards asks.

"Yeah, sorry. I asked but she said no." I frown, he nods his understandingly before wrapping his arm around Lily-Ann's waist.
