"I think this is a bad idea." Luke says as he tries to fix his tie in the mirror I was doing my makeup in.
"You think everything is." I retort.
"Not everything."
"Most things."
"Zoe, I don't want you to drink tonight." Luke says as he gives up and sits down next to me.
"Why? So I can be your driver?"
"No! I just don't want you to cause a scene." He says.
"Like Sunday?"
"Yes?" He answers moving away because he thought I was going to hit him.
"Good point." I mutter fixing my fake eyelashes.
"Really?"
"Yeah." I shrug standing up and taking off my dressing gown to reveal my navy dress underneath.
"This okay?" I ask Luke, he looks me up and down and nods with a small smirk.
"You look amazing." He answers, I laugh and walk over to fix his tie.
"I don't understand why you can't do ties, didn't you wear ties in school?" I ask.
"No, did you?"
"Yeah, an ugly blue and black one." I laugh smoothing it down. "Perfect."
"Ready?" He asks grabbing his car keys.
"Yeah I think so."
"Nervous?" He asks as we walk out of the empty apartment, Aurora took Alana out to get a drink so Luke and I could sneak out without questions.
"Really nervous."
"Well it's 7 and they sat down to eat at 3 so they should be done." Luke tells me as he holds my hand to help me down the stairs in my heels.
"What if she's surprised that I turn up?" I ask.
"It'll be a good surprise." Luke says, "What are you going to say about Alana not being there?"
"She's ill."
"Shouldn't you just tell her that Alana didn't want to come?"
"I mean we're already lying to my sister so I think we need a little bit of truth." I mutter getting into his car.
"Exactly."
"I'll just tell her the truth." I say taking a deep breath.
"Zoe, it's going to be okay." Luke says gripping my hand.
"I know, it just feels wrong but that doesn't matter." I say starting to shake my leg. He squeezes my hand tightly before we pull away from the apartment building and head to the wedding.
What if she didn't mean to send the invite?
What if she expected Alana to come and not me?
What if this is a bad idea?
