"What do you mean he'll go back to Azkaban! He's innocent, Remus!" El shrieked, pacing around the empty DADA classroom. Harry was sat on the edge of a desk, thinking deeply to himself, "How do we find Pettigrew?" Remus sighed, a look of defeat on his face, "We can't do anything. All we can do now is hope the Aurors find him." Harry slammed the edge of his desk suddenly, "NO! That's not right." El jumped a little out of her pace and stared at Harry who was boiling with rage! The last time that she had seen him this hot headed was when he had attacked Sirius in the Shrieking Shack. "Harry, calm down." Remus sternly instructed, looking at him with exasperation. "There's nothing we can do. He's safe for now, if Peter isn't found there is no way in hell that Sirius will let himself go back there. Fudge just wants to seem in control." He reminded the two tense teenagers, flicking his wand at the door, opening it, as his next class had arrived.

Harry had remained quiet as they paced back to the common room, which she found unusual. They'd always have something to say to each other and she even tried to make small talk but he seemed like he didn't even want to be talking to El! She blamed it on how he had reacted in the classroom and decided to keep quiet too as she thought about how when she was angry, all she wanted was peace and quiet. They both had a free period that was meant for studying but they both knew they wouldn't. El had found herself eating her body weight in sweets that Hermione had leftover from their trip to Hogsmeade and Harry took himself to his room where Ron was apparently waiting for him. Jada and Hermione had Transfiguration, so it was just El and Newt. Recently she had been to Hagrid's who had taken a liking to Newt, he mentioned that he would be sending a spurting Wiggentree up to the Owlery within the afternoon so that was one job El had to go and do. Newt was growing bored of his bark formation that El had created and so he needed a real tree. But before she put on her coat and boots to go and see if it were there, she couldn't help but wonder if her dad was alright. He'd been through so much in his lifetime already and been there for her so little. She wondered if living at Remus' until Christmas would remind him of the memories he shared of the two of them when they were younger as she hoped it would. He was most likely putting up camp in her old room where there was a pencil drawing of her height throughout the ages by the door. Looking out of her dormitory window she saw Hogsmeade in the distance and a faint excited patter of her heartbeat filled the air around her at the belief that Sirius was nearby and safer than he was if they were still living at 12 Grimmauld Place. "Come on, you. Let's get you your tree." El turned around to Newt who had wandered over to the window to see what she was doing. El scooped him up in her soft hands and popped him gently onto her shoulder. She wandered over to her brown and golden trunk at the foot of her bed, grabbed her red coat (that Jada had made her buy) and popped her boots back on.

The trip to the Owlery was long and cold. Even Newt quickly vanished into her coat pocket after he had popped his head out. The winter chill was near and that only meant one thing. McGonagall was due to announce the school's yearly Christmas ball. El and Jada always spiked the punch bowls with fire whiskey beforehand in the kitchens. They did it every year since their second year when El had just found out what whiskey even was and the professors still hadn't figured out who had done it. It made for a very fun dance! El had never gone with anyone before though, she had usually just tagged along with whatever date Jada had brought along but this year called for her to be daring. After all, she'd only recently discovered she had a crush on Harry. Maybe she could ask him, as friends of course, but see how it felt to be his date before making a decision on where to take it. She felt her stomach flip at the thought of Harry being her date and it cast a rather big grin on her face as she climbed the long stairs to the Owlery.
