El sat alone on the Gryffindor table as herself and Remus had gotten there ten minutes early. She had been left to her own devices, stomach rumbling, going over the details of the last few hours. She had spent what was actually two and a half hours in Dumbledore's office being questioned, she'd returned a stolen dangerous artefact purely because she, for some reason, was taken there by some ghostly entity to find it, she had made Hermione burst into tears, Snape had apparently nearly been killed by her father if it wasn't for Harry's father and now she was coming up with every possible way to apologise to Hermione Granger in her head.
"Oh thank Merlin, you've not been expelled!" Jada came running over to her, the rest of the Gryffindor's following. El didn't get up but instead, let her quickly slide into the table and hug her tight. "You're not going to believe what has just happened." El told her, just as Harry and Ron had appeared, "Hermione wouldn't tell us anything. Are you alright? She only said you were in Dumbledore's office." Harry breathed out, taking a the other seat next to El. Everyone quickly piled onto the table including Hermione who did not look her way. El took a deep breath in, "Everyone just be quiet a minute-" she turned to Hermione who had her head in a book, giving the impression that she was far more interested in the words she was reading, rather than what El had to say. "Hermione, I want to extend my sincerest apologies-" She thought back to what Remus had suggested, trying to sound mature like she had really meant it, "I know you saved my life, our lives, and for that I am very grateful to have you as a friend. I might not have been here today if you hadn't gotten involved, so if you'll take me back as one, I'd love to start afresh with you." El finished, staring at Hermione with hopeful yet regretful eyes. The whole table went silent, not understanding what had happened in Dumbledore's office. Hermione looked up from her book, her eyes reddened and slowly nodded her head. "I would like that very much." El sighed a big sigh of relief and reached her hand out across the table to where she was sat. She squeezed gently and with a reassuring smile on her face, thanked her.
El had explained every single detail to anyone and everyone that would listen, basking in the glory of her actions just a little, as they munched down on some hot delicious food that had been served. Fred and George thought she was as cool as they were with her mischievous tricks but Harry, Ron and Jada were more than relieved they weren't expelled for tagging along. "Good job none of us put on the damn thing." Ron grumbled through a full mouth of chewed up sausage and mash to which Hermione made a sickened face as she chewed on her sausage and mash too. "Good job none of you are dead and El hasn't be expelled! I thought for a second, knowing how angry the Professors were, that maybe you would have been." Hermione insisted, trying to hold in the frog in her throat.
"What are you doing later tonight?" Harry asked when the conversation had ended, feeling somewhat optimistic. El turned his way, wiping her mouth clean on a napkin. She glanced quickly to Remus who was chatting away to Professor Sprout, deep in conversation. "I'm actually going to spend some time with Remus in his office tonight. Think the shock of all of this and how Sirius has come back, has made him want to spend forgotten time with me." She told him, looking into his sparkling green eyes. He nodded his head, understanding completely. "That sounds great. Have fun." He smiled up at her reassuringly, finishing the last of his own meal.
El walked happily towards the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom, with a full stomach, a happy heart and no more dangerous necklaces sitting in her pocket. Remus had left a little earlier than she did. When she got there, the classroom was cold, dark and empty but a little light from the back of the room and up the stairs was shining out, casting its warm and welcoming light towards El. The muffled sound of jazz from his record player was also rather inviting, it reminded her of their old life together when she was little. He would teach her how to dance by popping her onto his feet and carefully guiding her around the room. Smiling at the thought, she opened the adjacent door fully, revealing Remus sat by the fire watching it dance.
