The halls were decked to the nines with Christmas decorations hanging from every single corner of Hogwarts. December brought thick snow which made for some fun snowball fights outside during their breaks. Everyone had been asking each other to the ball including George, who had asked Jada, to which she obviously agreed! Fred was going with Angelina from the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Neville had asked Ginny, Hermione had been asked by Cedric Diggory (Hufflepuff's heart throb) which left El, Harry and Ron still without dates. Ron was trying his hardest not to be upset over the fact that the girl he was going to ask was now gushing over Diggory (a family friend of the Weasley's.) But Harry still hadn't asked Elektra, and she seemed awfully surprised. Was he waiting for her to ask him? He wasn't acting awkward around her or giving any signs that he was going off her, but it did make her wonder.

"So, Ron? Any luck finding a date?" Jada sniggered, clinging onto George's arm as they sat together on the common room sofa. El thought they suited each other very well, but she still couldn't understand what made him drool worthy as to El, George was family. Ron threw Jada a dirty look as he sunk into his chair next to Harry, "No. Maybe I'll just go with Harry like I did last year." Ron hopefully asked Harry but Harry looked concerned, "You are joking right?" He glanced to El very briefly, and then back at Ron, "What makes you think I'd say yes?" Ron looked towards George who had started to laugh, "Listen up Gryffindors," George let go of Jada's arm and stood up, facing the now quiet common room, "My brother Ron here still hasn't got a date, so if any of you fancy asking him, he'd really appreciate it." Ron's face turned a red as a tomato as he threw a cushion at his brother as he sat back down in his seat. Everyone laughed, including El as she played with Newt in her hands. "You're an arsehole, do you know that?" Ron spat, as George began to smirk widely. "Just on brother duties, that's all."

A couple of lessons before the holidays made sure that El was crammed in with deadlines. Harry and her, had spent most of their time in the library finishing up their partnered project for Remus' lesson. They were handing in a portfolio of research done on dark creatures within the Wizarding World and since El knew her creatures and Harry knew how to defend against them, they were positive Remus would be giving them a good mark. During their time in the library as El was finishing colouring in a diagram of a Grindylow as Harry labelled it, he had whispered something in El's ear, which made her want to squeal with excitement in her seat. It wasn't just what he had whispered that had caused it but the fact that his hot breath trickled down her neck as he did and his low voice was the first time that El had ever felt somewhat desperate to kiss him!

"Do you know how to fly a broom well?" Harry asked quietly, not trying to get the attention of the librarian. El shrugged her shoulders, trying to remain calm. "Depends. Why?" She lightly chuckled, finishing of a green section of the Grindylow's head. Harry carried on, "Well I was wondering if you wanted to fly out with me to the island on the Black Lake, making sure we're not seen of course." El shot her head up and turned to face Harry who was considerably sat very close to her. Almost close enough for him to lean in and kiss her! "Bowtruckle Island?" El exclaimed quite loudly which caused the librarian to look up from her desk sharply. Harry nodded his head, glancing down at El with a soft smile lingering on his lips. "Would you like to go? You can bring Newt too." He asked sweetly, finishing up the last of his writing. El was over the moon with excitement! She'd always wanted to go, but never felt safe nor was she allowed to. Newt was an outcast from his own colony so maybe showing him what he could potentially have, might get him to want to go back to them. But El didn't feel too keen on letting him go just yet, if he didn't want to that was. "I would love too, Harry! Thanks for offering." They both smiled brightly at each other just as the old clock in the library started chiming, indicating their next lesson, Charms. That had to have been the nicest thing anyone had ever offered to do with her!
