The red satin dress from Madam Malkin's shop now lay elegantly over El's body as she was putting the final touches together. The red was that bold; she was sure it matched her personality well. She felt like a dream! El never wore dresses often but was so taken aback by how incredible she felt that she was tempted to incorporate them more into her everyday outfits. Jada, who dolled herself up with glitz and glamour in her silver silk dress that fell to the floor, equally looked just as beautiful as she usually did. But Hermione had outshone them both. Usually in plain, simple clothing with slight colour, she was now dressed in a blue silk dress with layers around the skirt; it flowed almost perfectly as she walked. El was starstruck at the sight before her and was so happy to call them both her friends. If the boys didn't think they looked like a million Galleons, then they needed their heads sorting!

The boys said they would meet them down at the Great Hall at seven o'clock. El thought hard about what they'd all come dressed in. Sirius would have lent a helping hand in Harry's dress robes since Sirius had quite impeccable taste in men's fashion. She started worrying, what if Harry didn't like what she was wearing? What if it was too much?

Squark!

El turned her head from the mirror and noticed that Alaric had come back from Sirius'. He was holding a letter in his beak. She quickly paced over in her heels, trying not to wobble on the wooden floor, and patted Alaric on his soft white and brown head.

Moony's office. Don't tell him that I'm here.

Dad.

Excitedly, she checked the watch that lay on her bedside table and realised she had just enough time to run in her heels to the third floor before the dance started. "Where are you going!" Jada shrieked as El was halfway out of the room. "Dad's here. I'll meet you down there!"

El burst open the DADA classroom door, shutting it just as quickly. "Dad?" She whispered loudly, seeing that the office door was open wide, but no candles were lit. She moved closer, her heels echoing around the room as she walked. Just as she was about to reach the bottom of the stairs to Remus' office, Sirius appeared from within, wearing a dark jacket over a white shirt. He had a matching waistcoat on with a little golden pocket watch hanging from it. He looked dashing!

"Elektra Black. You do know how to make an entrance, don't you? Look at you..." He reached down the stairs for her hand, taking it gently as he effortlessly pulled her up the stairs, carefully making sure she didn't trip in her heels. El blushed a little at his words, feeling like nothing could go wrong. "Dad! What are you doing here?" She asked as they both walked into the room, still holding each other's hands. He spun around once she had closed the door behind her. "I wanted to see you! Might I add, this dress is beautiful on you, my darling." He spun her around, which made the dress twirl as she did. El giggled slightly at her dad's compliment. "I also wanted to come here to tell you in person that..." Sirius hesitated, looking up from her dress into her deep brown eyes, "I'm a free man." El's eyes widened as a small smile rested on Sirius' lips. El's heartbeat began to quicken out of pure relief as she quickly threw her arms around her father's neck, hugging him ever so tightly. Sirius chuckled, taking a step back to regain balance, "We can be a proper family now." El looked up with glistening eyes, trying not to let any tears fall down her face, scared it would ruin the make-up that Jada had helped with.

"Did they catch him?" She asked, letting go of her dad but still holding onto his hands as she looked at him in awe. A man that had been put through the worst of the worst and had come out of it an unsung hero. He nodded his head slowly, "Found him hiding out within a forest just north of Wigtown. He was terrified when they brought him back to the Ministry that he admitted to everything he had done. I got told at a meeting, you see. I'm supposed to be having a formal apology from Fudge. I'm sure it'll be in the papers sooner or later." El could have cried right then and there! But her excitement was cut short, "He also admitted that Voldemort is growing stronger by the minute." Elektra took a deep breath in, "It may have been all talk, but anyone would be stupid not to believe it. He is on the rise, my darling. We need to all be prepared for when he makes his return. But I will tell Harry myself, so you concentrate on enjoying that party Black style." Sirius forced out a warm smile, trying to ease the tension at Voldemort's name. He winked at her as he did, but Sirius still felt like a nervous wreck at the thought of Voldemort on top of a missing dangerous artefact.
