The crowd came to all at once and it didn't help in the slightest.
Wherever they were and however they had gotten there, it had caused some of the humans to lose control over their bodily functions. The space reeked of urine and faeces, now joined by vomit as the sensory overload came to effect. After the first few moments screams of distress came from some of the humans, soon joined by more and more.
Nothing but the screams of terror could be heard, bits of vomit and other excretions were drifting through the enclosure.
Panic reigned.
Some of the humans managed to move, triggering the crowd to imitate them and paddle around like a badly coordinated swarm of fish. Humans collided with each other, tried to grip a hold so as not to drift apart again, injuring each other in the process. Severe scratch wounds added blood to what was already there. Big bundles of humans formed where many tried to stick together, those in the middle either being squashed or suffocated.
Some humans drifted around without any apparent sign of life, either already dead or unconscious.
Some humans tried to create empty space around them, biting and scratching everything that came too close, screeching like maniacs.
There was no possible way for the crowd to calm down by themselves without all the humans dying first, even if some were knocked out with exhaustion there would still be some humans going on, driven by adrenaline and panic.
Suddenly an opening became apparent, an exit to the enclosure. The swarm of humans divided, some diving for the apparition head on, some hesitant.
One human, desperate to exit the enclosure at any cost, was bold enough stuck its head into the opening. Moments later its body went limp. Whether it had given off any kind of noise was not discernible through the ruckus made by the crowd.
When the lifeless body was sucked through the hole however the crowd panicked again and even more so when another human nearby was sucked into the hole, struggling against an invisible force. The screams of terror could not be heard over the din but it was obvious to the other humans that the one being sucked into the hole was terrified by what was happening to it.
Everywhere in the enclosure humans tried to evade the hole and whatever it was that rhythmically inserted humans into the hole with half their body out of sight, half the body visible and struggling only to go slack and be sucked in entirely.
It didn't take much time for most of the humans to all form a big clump at the opposite boundary of the enclosure.
Some that were not so lucky were left behind - floating in space without any means to propel themselves away from the hole. They were captured by the force one by one and injected into the hole. When there were no more humans in the direct vicinity of the hole and no human was dragged of for some time the crowd started to relax.
That was, until the enclosure began shrinking.
With all the humans neatly in one space, the sphere shrank at an alarming rate, causing more panic, more squashing, more suffocating and more ejection of bodily fluid, waste and vomit.
There was no escaping the force. One by one the humans were taken, the screaming ones, the catatonic ones, the fighting ones, the shocked ones. To the last one they were inserted into the hole.
