George had been dozing off when what was left of Owen was deposited in the pen next to him again. He was in a pitiful state, crying silently, holding onto himself, not registering anything that happened outside his pen. He was retreating inside his own head it seemed, not taking in anything. He was laying too far away for George to touch so he had no way of getting him out of the deep pit of fear and desperation he had been pushed into. George tried to soothe him as much as he was able to without the possibility to touch him. He hummed quietly, trying to get Owen out of his head. After some time the shaking and the tears stopped, but then he just lay there, without moving. Food came down the chute twice but Owen didn't stir.

George was sure that they had both gone through the same procedure but obviously it had been a lot harder on Owen. When he himself had been made to watch the man before him release into a tube he had deduced what was being expected of him and had prepared himself. It had been quick but somehow he had felt as if the life was being sucked out of him and when he had been brought back he didn't warn Owen sufficiently. He now regretted not preparing him better, no matter how exhausted he had felt.

During his sleep, Owen had tossed and turned and at one point Gregor had been able to stretch himself and grab a hold of the lifeless body. He had tried to warm him as best he could through the bars and to coax him into drinking some water. The things came and for a moment George feared that they had come to take Owen away and dispose of him, but they had only taken the maniac with them. Probably to make him spill his seed into a sleeve, as all of them, so he thought nothing of it. When he had been brought back the maniac had crouched down in a defensive stance as far away from the things as possible. He had glared up at them and muttered under his breath. Though the muttering was not intelligible, George could easily imagine what it was about, given the way he had been spouting his opinions in the small room he, Chris, Adam, Pete and the dead one had shared with the maniac. He did not think that the maniac liked being forced to ejaculate down a sleeve when he was of the opinion that sex should only be used when wanting to procreate. Not that he thought that any of the other men liked it any better. But the explosion that he thought he could feel being cooked up in the crooked brain of the maniac would be something spectacular. For now he kept muttering in the corner of his pen. Even though this behaviour was not hostile in itself, George kept an eye on him as he continued to caress Owen.
