Chapter 38 Sneaking Out

I felt numb today which is good I guess. I had a follow up with the police today and turns out I was the only one she was doing that to. They said she admitted to everything and had apologized. I was happy I wouldn't have to sit in another court room but, I still feel broken. Like a part of me has been ripped out and stomped on. I want to throw up all the time and I'm back to flinching at everything. I hate this.

Amy's POV

I got Scarlett up for school and she was sluggish which I'm usually not worried about, but after yesterday I don't want to set her off. Plus she met with the cops again and even though it was good news I could tell the trauma was resurfacing.
"Hey Scar, what do you want for breakfast?" Avery asked her standing in the door frame.
"An orange I guess"

"We have the small ones, is that ok?"

"Yeah"
Then Avery left and went off to the kitchen. Scarlett got dressed and was sitting on the floor gathering her things for school. She shouldn't have to go after all this but she's missed a lot of school and if she misses anymore cps will be notified.
I sat down in front of her because I was already ready to go.
"Do you want me to walk with you to your classes?"

"No, Luna already does that"

"Anything I can do to make you more comfortable going?"

"Not really"

I looked at her and sighed. I noticed she had a piece of lint in her hair and reflexively went to grab it and she flinched. Her whole body kind of jumped back a little when I put my hand up.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You have lint in your hair"

She looked sad or maybe mad that she had that reaction to me.
"I'm sorry"

"You don't need to apologize. Now come on, we'll be late for school"

We grabbed our things and I grabbed Scars orange because I know she was leaving it purposefully. In the car I gave it to her and she sighed but took it.

When we got to school Luna was waiting on the steps as well as Matt and Stacy.

Scarlett's POV

I saw Matt and Stacy waiting at the stairs for me with Luna. I walked up to them both and hugged them tight.
"Good morning to you too Scar" Stacy said

"Good morning babe" Matt said just as confused.

"I'm glad you guys are here"

"We're glad your here as well"

We all walked in and went to our lockers to get our stuff for our first class. I still feel jumpy. I haven't flinched at Matt or Stacy yet so that's good.

Before class, I went to the bathroom to take a breath. I needed to get out the hallways and into a more quiet place.

I walked in and sat on the floor against the wall. Luna was in there with me and I knew she'd say something. I just wanted quiet though.
"You okay?" She asked

"I feel numb, so that's pretty nice"

"Anything I can do?"

"Be quiet"

She stopped talking and I sat there until the bell rung. Then I got up and went to my first class.

The days over now and Stacy just got picked up by her mom. So now it's me Matt, Amy, and Luna.

Me and Matt were sitting together while Amy and Luna stood near by.
"I wanna be alone with you. Just for awhile"

"I feel the same way"

"We could run"

"Ha! Your sister and Luna would catch us in a heartbeat"

"Your right" I said smiling
