"I'm home."
When Izuru arrived home, he walked into the living room, where he came across another boy, of his age, sitting on the couch. His arms and head hanged out of the couch and he was staring at the ceiling like someone who had lost his soul. He had short, light brown hair, and amber-coloured eyes. His clothing was a simple yellow shirt and black shorts with flip-flops on his feet. Upon hearing Izuru's footsteps, the boy raised his head.
"Yo..." The boy said.
"Let me guess. You got dumped again?" Izuru asked.
"Yup... Me and Tamaki-chan are over again..." The boy sulked and sat up.
His full name was Serebryakov Tametomo, part japanese and part russian, but he went simply by Tate, a pun on the type of decks he likes. He was Izuru's best friend ever since their early middle school days and self-diagnosed himself with a curse born on the year 2048.
"Yikes. Wait, Tamaki again? No wonder." Izuru sighed as he sat down on one of the chairs near the the couch. "I told you she wasn't worth the effort."
"But Miyuki, Tamaki-chan is speciaaaaaaaal!" Tate reached out for a plate of pancakes resting on the small table across the couch and placed it on his lap. "She was the first girl I held hands with, and I still just how warm her hands felt on that cold January day! Oh how ready was I to spent my youthful days with her!"
"Spend your youthful days doing something worth the while, like studying or playing video games! Love is nothing more than an aberrational concept meant to drag away your hold of reality! If you aren't inlove with anyone, then picture just all the things you could do! You can spend an entire day watching TV!"
"No, that's just you." Tate deadpanned.
"You can go anywhere without needing to carry bags or say that she doesn't look fat in those jeans!"
"That actually doesn't sound bad."
"Spend an all nighter trying to get the world record on how fast you can get all social link ranks with Chihiro!"
"Nope, that one is just you. And the chick in the red spandex is way better. She has the ultimate curves." Tate chuckled with a grin. "Now that is some good waifu material, my man."
"Hm, what was that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of your poor taste in video game female characters. I think you said something really retarded but I'm not sure. Also, wrong game in the series, you uncultured pig."
"Hey man, c'mon! No need to slap me with your elitist gamer judgement! I'm just saying, I like mine thick."
"Both Ako and Tamaki barelly got anything, lolicon."
"Hey, that's the defect of the school uniform! And no looking at those places on my ex-girlfriends, that isn't nice! And they are thick man, I swear!"
"Calm down, you big idiot. I didn't look at those places, I have better things to do with my life. You were the one who boasted about it ever since we started high school."
"Can't argue with that logic. Speaking of better things to do with your life, you finished the speech for tomorrow?"
"Eek." A shiver ran down Izuru's spine. "I tried to finish it the day before Ryuuga's wedding but felt into a writer's block, and I haven't looked at the thing the whole day... Ah, whatever. I can finish it after a few hours of playing some video games. My copy of Persona 3 Remastered finally arrived this morning and I haven't popped that baby open." Izuru rubbed his hands together with a malicious grin. "The game will inspire my writing."
"Yeah, last time a video game inspired a speech, you went on a full rant mode about how the current generation is throwing away their youth for the saking of meaningless things, right before we started summer break. I'm sticking around till you finish that junk. Aunt Yu-chan already said I had the green light to spend the night and I just happened to bring my books and uniform on the backpack I already left in your room. We're in for a sleepover, sucker!"
"Ah. This sucks. I wonder if I can crash at a friend's place." Izuru spoke bluntly.
"Please, I know I'm your only male friend." Tate put on a confidence-filled smirk.
"That's nothing to be proud about! And it sounds too much like a sad remark about my life!"
