"This is the beauty of change. Like those cursed by war upon knowing their struggle would finally come to an end, I too am overjoyed."
The headmaster stood by the windows of his office, looking down on the school grounds. In his hands, he held a file containing the grades of the current semester's midterm exams, which he tossed onto his desk as he sat back on his chair.
"Wouldn't you say so, Nijimura-san?" He asked, looking up at the grey-haired woman standing before his desk.
"I would need more context, Endo-sama. What's the cause for this sudden burst of happiness of yours?"
"It's like I said, the beauty of change has finally begun to unveil itself. Everything has started going underway. Of course, that doesn't explain mutch, so allow me to add some more. For the past year, the norm became that your dear friend Sawada Izuru-kun tended to have one of the highest grades of his year, is that not correct?"
"I'd appreciate an explanation lacking any mockery towards me."
"That is a fair point, I apologize for being rude. Anyway, results from his past midterms and semester finals always lead to him being around the top three highest students of his year, sometimes even of the school. But change has finally begun. In the latest midterm exams, he was degraded to a lousy sixth place on his year, seventh place school-wise. Do you recall our earlier conversation about the terms of cause and effect, Nijimura-san?"
"Yes. You defended that, should Ban Katsuhito reveal or not the truth regarding Sachi-san to him, the outcome will be the same. He will arrive at the truth."
"Precisely. And these results are the evidence that, as some would say, the train has left the station. Filled with doubt, his mind wanders off to the trivial Ban Katsuhito matter, thus affecting his results in the latest midterm exams. We're already past the point of cause and will soon arrive at the point of effect."
"And what will you do when he arrives at the truth of the Ban Katsuhito incident? When he discovers you were the real root of the problem, Endo-sama?"
"I appeal to Sawada-kun's strongest feeling. Under all that utterly useless rubble he calls a personality lies the essence of his true self."
"You mustn't mean-!"
"And that is of a berserker who only knows violence as a solution." Endo revealed, a slight grin spreading across his face. "A berserker who holds no regard towards the damage done to his opponent or himself, who'll keep punching and beating the person across him for aslong as his knuckles are still attached to his body, who'll tank the opposing blows and keep dishing out physical punishment while stopping others from stopping him until his opponent is no longer able to mutter another word! And I believe you have seen the face of that berserker, have you not, Nijimura-san?"
"...I believe Sachi-san has arrived as per your request. I shall tell her to come inside." The assistant said, turning away from her superior.
"Ah yes, I almost forgot about that. Indeed, send her in."
Nijimura nodded and left the office, stepping into the hallway outside where Minami stood, waiting. The two exchanged a single look that didn't need any explanation and Minami entered the office. Closing the door behind the second year student, Nijimura stood by the office's door, gritting her teeth.
"Did you want to talk, Endo-sama?" Minami asked, an empty, solemn look in her eyes.
"I'd like to first congratulate you on that Ban Katsuhito-kun affair. You did a most wonderful job. In no less than a week, a war between him and Sawada-kun broke out and ended. Indeed, a most wonderful job. And the results of that affair were more than beautiful. Ban-kun is still in the school, so his rehabiliation may still proceed. Turning a teacher-beater such as himself into a respectable member of society will be great for Heiwa Academy's image. A surprise for sure, but a welcome one."
