You smiled as your friend spoke about his crush. You could feel your heart cracking everytime. But seeing him smile, you couldn't help but smile and fall in love with him. He may be hurting you without knowing, but you were glad to see him happy. Like they said, as long as he's happy, you're happy.
"I'm thinking about asking her out," Changmin says snapping you out of your thoughts.
"Yeah, go for it," you smiled. "You like her. And she makes you happy."
"Where should I take her out though?" he asks.
"Somewhere where we've never been," you say. "Because if you mention me, you might make her feel like a second option."
He nods and lets a small dolphin noise out. "Thank you. I can always count on a friend like you." Though it hurt hearing those words, you rather be his friend than being nothing to him.
So they got together. They were the cute power couple. You wanted to hate her. But you just couldn't bring yourself to do it. She was truly a good person. They treated each other well. Their relationship was healthy. You envied her. You felt like thinking like that, made you a bad friend.
You wanted to be her. To date your best friend.
But you couldn't.
Because you're not her.
