Sometimes, I wore a mask to school. I didn't want to bother people with my flower petals. Everyday, I debate wither I should tell him or not.

I let a tired sigh out as I closed my notebook and put it in my bag. I began to cough and the petals came out of my mouth. Some of the students looked at me as I left the class. I put some hair behind my face and walked to the roof. The roof was one place where I couldn't be able to bother anyone.

I ate my lunch in peaceful silence. Or that was until I felt a lump in my throat. I quickly swallowed my food, and then the flowers came out. It was starting to get worse. I had to tell Jeno or I would die.

I didn't see him at school today. I put my mask on as I walked home. What made things worse, it was a Friday.

"I'm home!" I said opening the door and taking off my shoes and walk into the kitchen.

"Oh hey," my mom turns her heads at me. "How was school?" She washes a dish and puts it in a rack.

"Same as usual," I shrug. I grab a small snack and head to the dinning room to do my work.

"Did you tell him?" she asks.

"No, not yet," I answer.

"Ah ok," she says. "But don't wait to long."

I woke up in the middle of the night coughing. I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to warm up some water.

I sip some water from my mug and scroll through my phone. It was currently 1 a.m. Just then, my dad comes through the door.

"Y/N shouldn't you be asleep?" he asks. I point to my throat and he nods. "Oh... ok. But don't stay up to long." I nod and he heads to his and moms room. After a few minute scrolling through my phone, I head back to bed.

It was Saturday and I had some work to finish. While on my laptop, I looked up surgeries for hanahaki. I sighed and closed my laptop.

Maybe just a few more days...

It was Monday and my friend wasn't here again. Renjun was probably ditching again. I was walking and I saw Jeno. And the flowers came again. There was a lot more this time.

Jeno and I were friends, but like every highschool life, we grew apart.

I inhaled and walked up to him. "Can I talk to you?"

"Um sure," Jeno answers. We walk and stop at the stairs.

"Jeno I know we haven't talked in a long time," I looked away. "But I like you." There was a small silence. I didn't dare to look at his face.

"Y/N... I'm sorry but I don't feel the same," he says.

"I understand," I look at him. "I didn't think you-" I quickly turn my head away and more flowers come out. At this point, it hurt to cough or speak.

"Hanahaki..." Jeno gasp lowly. "Y/N."

I look at him. "I'll be fine." I cough walking away.
