I wake up to the sound of a door opening. It's not the same as the heavy doors, which requires you to push a metal button going across it with almost your whole body. This one required the turn of a knob which someone was currently doing.
I blinked my eyes and attempted to look over, my eyes cloudy and head feeling groggy.

What the hell did they inject me with?

I thought as I placed my hand on my head to ease the thumping that didn't wanna let up.

Padded footsteps walked over to the other side of the room I was on before they came to a stop.
Once I finally felt I could look around more easily I opened them to see i wasn't in the same room.

At least I'm not strapped down.

I breathing out a sigh I didn't notice I was holding in.

This room had a dark gray carpet, perfectly clean of any stains of any type. Two small beds lay on opposite sides of the room, and a desk was present at the far wall that wasn't occupied with much.
The area was a bore and I hoped I didn't have to sleep in a room with as simple decor as this one.

I looked up at where the footsteps had stopped and see the same guy nurse from earlier. His dark hair covered his right eye as he was currently looking down at paperwork as usual. Is that all he ever does around here? Just make himself look busy?

I cleared my throat and he turned only his head toward me.

"Yes?" He asked, not surprised one bit I had just woken up from who knows how long and is acting as if I totally didn't pass out from getting some crazy shit shot into my neck by a mad doctor. After a second he sighed and turned back around.

I scoffed before questions started to build up. I knew he probably wouldn't answer like he did earlier but it wouldn't hurt to try.
What was his name again?
Nicholas?

"Umm Nicholas right?" I asked hoping I wasn't imagining Maddie say his name wrong.

"Nurse browning." He corrected, not even taking a glimpse away from his papers.
I rolled my eyes already wishing his attitude would walk out the door.
Or was I the one with the attitude??

"Nicholas, I have a question."

He didn't say anything, just kept turning papers until his skimming stopped on a certain line. His eyebrows creased in confusion as he looked up at me.

"You're seventeen?"
He asked me out of random.

"Stop trying to change the subject I really need some answers." Aggravation was beginning to set in as I was sure those were his plans.

Boy was I wrong.

Nicholas sighed, sounding just as aggravated as I was if not more.

"If you answer some of my questions I'll answer some of yours. Deal?" He was currently pinching his nose, the pen in the same hand dangerously coming to close contact with his face.

I thought it over for a minute, swollowed, then nodded my head.

Might as well.

"Like I said a second ago, you're seventeen?" He asked.
I furrowed my brows in confusion.

"Yeah, what does that have to do with anything though?"

"Well for starters patients here are only nineteen and older. This is an adult institution and anyone under that age are prohibited from being treated here." My mind buzzed, everything he was saying was slowly soaking in and I couldn't process why I could possibly end up here.
