Surprisingly I did end up changing into their awful excuse of clothes. Mine were more baggy than I thought they would turn out and they made a wierd rubbing noise when I moved around.
Once I was satisfied the best I could be I walked over to the button and pushed it. It took a few seconds but a small 'buzz' noise echoed throughout the room and a woman's voice similar to the one that announces other things on the intercom chimed in.
"What do you want." She asked lazily.
I rolled my eyes and continued: "I was wondering if you could let me out."
I heard a lazy sigh, she seemed older than the one that pushed the security button. She sounded like somewhere in her late fifties, almost like she sounded tired all the time and just overall board.
"Can't let you out without a reason hun."
"I'm new here and Dr. Dean said it would be alright if I could check the place out and get my feel for things." A hum of consideration bounced off the walls as she thought it through. After a second or two she sighed and gave it.
"Alright alright, I typically don't allow patients to just roam but since you're new I'll take the plunge to trust you. Just... don't expect it all the time." A smile of appreciation graced my lips and after I heard the small click from the door I didn't hesitate in leaving the dull, boring room. As soon as I stepped out a nurse pushing a gurnee rudely rushed passed me, nearly missing me on the process.
"Watch where you're going!" She sneered coldly, her face masking nothing but attitude. I scoffed but ultimately decided on shaking my head and walking the opposite direction of her.
The hallways were the same as last time, grey and dull. Instead of looking for an exit i settled on looking around the place.
Once at three way intersection at the end of the hallway, I ended up choosing right which led me to a dead end. There were two doors and one on the left was labeled confinement and the other A-wing.
Not enjoying the sound of confinement, I chose A-wing and started my way through the door.
These halls weren't grey and dull, they were worse. The tiles on the ceiling, the walls, and the floor we're all completely white.
And I thought I had it bad!
I continued down the hall, the wails of what were replaced with women were now the sounds of men. The doors I continued to pass protected me from the muttering men that would sometimes mumble incoherent things or rock in there chairs.
A little bit further down I heard the strangled cry of a man who sounded like he was strapped down like I had been previously.
"Let me out of these damn it!" He shouted, his voice filled with struggle and movement. After a few seconds his voice has been replaced with an annoying mumble that sounded like someone had placed something like their hand or a cloth over his mouth to quiet him.
I shivered but continued on, silently praying I wasn't going to get into anything deeper than I was already in for being here.
After that nothing was out of the ordinary, it actually seemed more quiet if anything. No intercoms, no wails, no mumbling. Everything so...oddly quiet.
I was about to crack an inner joke in my head about everyone being on lunch break when I heard the sound of Dr. Dean's voice start to echo off the walls closer and closer. I started to immediately run in the opposite direction only to hear the sound of a nurse making her way to my direction as well. My patients was running thin and I knew either I had to figure out something quick or in a goner. Just as he was rounding the corner to the hallway I was standing in, I felt two large hands grab my clothes and pull me inside the door behind me. A small cry of surprise left my lips and I quickly turned around, eager to see who it was. There wasn't just one person, but five: three boys and two girls. Two of the boys had their arms wrapped around a girl and the other was in front of me, a index finger placed over his lips to signal me to be quiet.
The room was just an ordinary room like the others except the constant white that kept bouncing off the walls. There was a small desk, two single beds, and a barred window. The two beds were occupied by the so called couples just in case you were wondering.
I kept quiet, listening closely as Dr. Dean was curious as to who made the loud cry he had just heard. He might have found out about us too if it wasn't for the wail that sounded a few doors down from us. Him and the nurses started for that door instead, talking about breaking up some fight that was currently taking place.
After a few seconds one of the girls that were wrapped in the arms of a boy blew out a sigh of relief. She had dirty blond hair that was styled in some messy curls down to her chest.
"Well...that was close." She sighed in relief, cuddling back comfortingly from the craning position of her neck tryin to see the new action of the room. The boy that was cuddling her chuckled softly, yet remained in his position.
He had dirty blond hair as well that was spiked up with what looked like cheap gel. They both fit each other well and I could see why.
The other couple was the complete opposite, they were next to each other but not as cuddly. They decided the small holding of hands was best for them, suspicious looks gracing their features.
The girl had light brown hair and chestnut eyes, a slim nose and a slim body to match it. The boy looked almost perfect for her if not more. His features featured dark almost black hair that was messily flopped partially in front of his eyes, he had a lean and somewhat toned body that was covered with a shirt that was the same color as everyone else's.
"Sorry about that...I noticed your situation and couldn't help myself." He held a soft smile that complemented his face quite nicely. He had longer hair than the other guys, it reached down to his waist and was a medium blond that was nicely placed in a long low ponytail. I also noticed slight stubble that was around his lips and grew into his side burns. Overall he looked like a nice person who was honestly going out of his way to help.
I reciprocated a smile and thanked him for his actions.
"You ma'am have the honor of meeting our secret lunatic hideaway!" He over exaggerated his words, sounding overly happy and walked over to a single chair pushed up against the desk.
"Cut the crap Jake, this isn't a lunatic hideout, we all just meet here cause I guess you could call us friends and we like to meet up at the right time and hangout." The brunette girl retorted and leaned her head on the shoulder of the boy next to her. Jake I'm assuming, sighed loudly and spoke again.
"Gosh Kyra you don't have to be such a sour puss. Who pissed in your medicine cup? " She didn't respond, only rolled her eyes then closed them once she had slightly moved her head into a more comfortable position. The boy next to her leaned his head on her's obviously trying to help her bad attitude.
"Sorry Jake, Kyra went to solitary confinement for fighting with another patient over food and wasn't served any for two days. She was so hungry she ate the lunch even thought she knows they put the medicine in it."
Jake brushed off the attitude Kyra had just left perviously and was a lot more understanding. Me on the other hand was confused about the whole lunch and medicine thing.
"Don't worry about it Ryan I underst-" I cut him off before he could even finish his sentence.
"Wait what do you mean?"
