I walked with annoyance to my 'fathers' office, thoughts of all the wrongdoings he's done to our family flashing through my mind.
"Hello nurse Browning." One of Maddie's friends flashed me a bright smile which I found annoying considering I don't like anyone much at this point who associates with her. I walked passed without much of a reaction, only trying to hurry and see what kind of stupid promotion plan my father last-minute made up to try and make me feel better about what he's done.
Finding myself standing in front of the too well known door, I huffed before putting my game face on and pushed it open. I already dreaded seeing his face because anytime I got close enough the idea of my knuckles bruising his fair skin seemed so satisfying.
He cleared his throat and made a motion for me to sit down which I rejected by standing in my same spot. I closed the door rather loudly and stood staring him in the eyes.
"Very well..." He mumbled acting as if nothing bothered him, but the vein sticking out of his forehead said otherwise."Son, I know you're upset, but we should leave personal problems away from the workplace. It's more professional that way."
I chuckled cold heartedly, not even being able to understand how ruthless he has been."Maybe you should just keep employee's away from home." I retaliated still not being able to comprehend why he would even think about hurting mom that way again.
"My employees are none of your business son. And I think it's time to put an end to this little fantasy of you trying to do something to ruin my name and my own business."
"Maybe you should've thought about your reputation before you mixed your business with your career." I looked him dead in his eye and couldn't help but feel anger with every word. I could feel my teeth clench and my fists tighten as each second passed.
"Next time keep your employees at work. Mom doesn't need the mental stress of knowing who your having an affair with..."
No longer interested in what he has to say; I head for the door only for his deep voice to illuminate the room and try to stop me.
"WAIT! I have another position available if you want it. I couldn't fire Ms. Maddie so I made some adjustments and got you the next best spot."
Trying my hardest not to grip the door handle too hard, an exaggerated scoff left my lips at the thought of working under her.
"You can keep your shitty adjustments. You can try to manipulate everyone else's happiness but you won't manipulate mine." With that I flung the door back open and storm out down the hallway while earning a few stares in the process.
I was too angry to see where I was going and it was up until I found myself in the nurses lounge that I was coming to terms with how truly awful of a man my father is. Our family and our relationship is strained and I can't help but feel pain everytime I look in my mother's eyes after she does this.
Taking a shaky breath I sit down in one of the chairs and slowly massage my temples; thankful for the calm and quietness away from patients and nurses. My mind feels like it's racing a million miles a second as I try my hardest not to give up and remove myself under his power.
Everyday it's getting harder and harder to bare...
Will I be able to finish this? Can I put myself through anymore?
I can't help but jump from the sound of the lounge bathroom door opening. Quickly composing myself, I look over and raise my eyebrows in question as the door continues to slowly ease open and a figure peeks her head out.
Her hazel brown orbs analyze the room until they land on me and immediately she yelps and let's the heavy door slam back shut on its down.
I couldn't help but try and hide the small grin trying to make it's way onto my face; this situation a lot more amusing than the one I had just gotten myself out of.I wait a few seconds before the door once again slowly starts opening, the curly headed girl making her way out of the small bathroom.
How long has she been in there?
"I-I-uh-I-um...." I now crossed my arms in humor, waiting for the best explanation she could come up with.
"I didn't know where the b-bathroom was so I always come h-here..." The girl's tan face was slowly turning red with embarrassment as she looked down at the shiny marble floor.
"How have you not been caught yet?" She looked up at me with light shock from my words, her mouth opening but not quite forming a sentence at first.
"Idk, I guess I'm just cautious maybe?" A chuckle makes its way past my lips, I shake my head slowly side to side in the process.
It's better than her trying to run...
"I can show you the bathroom if you want..." Her face got even more red as she stopped playing with her hands and looked up at me unexpectedly.
"Uh-i-s-sure." Clasping her hands in front of her she looked uncomfortable and unsure what to do.
Destiny's POV:
I watched him turn around and couldn't help but hate myself for how I reacted. The situation is already embarrassing enough I don't need to be around him any longer than I need to be.
I'm supposed to avoid him...
I stay quiet the whole time and keep to myself up until he stops at a door with a woman logo on it.
He clears his throat and motions his hand towards the door."Well...this is it."
"Thanks, um-h-how do I get here from my room?"
"Hmm, do you remember where the game room is?"
"Yeah, sort of..."
"How about this, I'll take you back to your room and you just remember what directions we take and if you can't I'll write them down for you." I open my mouth but can't form a sentence correctly in defeat. I simply nod and look down.
"Alright then I believe it's this way..." He begins walking back down the hallways we came, then turns to the left instead of a right when we get to the end up of it. After he takes a few different turns we eventually make it to the correct hallway and room. Hopefully I remembered the way so this incident won't happen again.
"Everything familiar now?" He asked once we stood in front of the door.
"Yeah, I remembered it correctly I believe. Thanks." I began for the handle and slowly turned it when he spoke quietly.
"No problem..."
Once the door was shut I sighed in relief and leaned against the door with my eyes closed. Upon opening them I was grateful that the room was empty so I wouldn't have to deal with Kyra's attitude at the current moment.
I made my way towards the bed and with a small huff I plopped down onto the thin mattress, already dreading the rest of the day.All I wanna do is sleep....
My heavy eyelids began to slowly close and before I know it I found myself falling into sleep
