I counted the days since the Halloween festival the Host Club held. After seeing Kyoya as distraught as he was at the mall he has kept his distance. I tried conversing but it ended with hums and a statement that he was very busy. The stylist added extensions to my hair, the light color of blue reflecting in the light. I fiddled with the chiffon of the dress as I stared in the mirror. Wednesday night, what did we have planned, a business dinner with no other than the Ootori's and Suoh's. The Suoh family decided to start a contract with the Hasegawa's as they have been partnered with the Ootori's for a while now. I was thankful to have Tamaki there to allow for conversation as I am sure Kyoya would continue to make it awkward between us.
"I'm surprised your mother wanted a blue color."
"She always has a reason beneath every decision. I wouldn't be surprised if this was another statement of my character." I stood up and thanked the stylist before grabbing my clutch and headed to the main hall and met my mother. Who silently led me to the limo she had called and we sat in silence, until right before we had arrived.
"I expect you to be on your best behaviors this is an important business dinner, we can't have any mistakes." I nod and she gave the smallest smile. "Do you understand what the blue color is for?"
"I assume to remind me to not be so stubborn and self-centered. A reminder of my place."
"Very good, Akita." The car door opened and she lead the way to the front door of the Ootori estate. I let out a small breath when I heard footsteps behind us. My mother turned, as did I. I immediately bowed and smiled tightly. Corporate mask keeping me from showing true emotion.
"Pleasure to see you Chairman Suoh and Mr. Suoh." I greeted and my mother immediately began conversation with Mr. Suoh as Tamaki and I stayed behind in the main hall of the estate.
"Niko, are you okay, you are acting weird?" Tamaki stopped in front of me and I looked up.
"You should refer to me as Akita, at least around my mother." His mouth curved into a small frown, he was about to say something more but Kyoya interrupted us.
"Akita, Tamaki shall we head to the main dining hall." I nod and we made our way through the estate. We were greeted by the adults talking amongst themselves and a man made his way up to me. His features strickingly similar to Kyoya's.
"You must be the darling Akita Hasegawa. You look lovely tonight." He brought my hand up to his lips as he kissed the back of my hand.
"Mr. Ootori, thank you for the kind invitation."
"Mr. Ootori is my father, you may refer to me as Akito." His smirk was charming but his energy was off putting. Sinister undertones made me become wary. He ushered me to the table where I declined his offer to sit beside him. Knowing Kyoya was still giving me the silent treatment I decided to sit beside Tamaki who smiled gleefully. By this time everyone was seated and I kept my head held high, back straight resting my hands in my lap.
"Akita I became aware of you falling back to second rank." I turned to Yoshio and simply nodded. "How could that happen so suddenly?" My eyes met Yuzuru's and I smiled lightly.
"Your son, Kyoya has surpassed me with his efforts. A true adversary and challenge of intellect." I turned my head to see Kyoya looking at me, a hint of surprise hidden in his cold eyes.
"I didn't realize you fell ranks, Akita." My mother stated, my smile faltered and my nose twitched slightly at the use of my name. She wouldn't start something in front of business partners would she? Servers came out with food and I stared at the food. My mother continued to converse with Yoshio and Yuzuru as I thought of everything that could go wrong from eating the food.
