Note Taking

Luck goes by different names whether it be fate, destiny, fortune, chance, none of which applies to my circumstance. Destiny can be a cruel thing or in a slim chance be a blessing in disguise. As much as I would like to go with the flow, I must work hard, I am however the eldest of my siblings.

If destiny meant staying at a high school in which I had no interest of being at the moment, then what was the point of it. Schooling is already a drag and must I be here? I could play hookey but that could lead to trouble later on.

Yet another day goes by, invisible by all as I move through the motions. Only a few seemed to recognize my presence throughout the years of being at Ouran. The only one to make a good impression was Takashi Morinozuka. Although, he recently moved onto university education, I didn't talk to him much. He always kept to himself and didn't intrude on personal business. Rather a calm and collected presence.

When he wasn't around Mitskuni Haninozuka, he was with me, training me martial arts in trade from bittersweet pastries I brought in my packed lunches. How my mother would hate to see I'm training in martial arts but as a female, I needed to learn self defense of some kind. Especially with the disgusting suitors she finds 'for' me. I continued to practice on my own since Takashi had graduated.

A hand rested on my shoulder, quickly shaking out of my haze I looked up at Mr. Takuya.

"Miss Hasegawa, bell has rung. You wouldn't want to be late for 3B." I nodded and gathered my items, seeing the classroom around me empty. How on Earth did I miss the bell? I entered the hall to see scrambling of students trying to get to their next classes. Plenty of gossip  and conversations between groups all sounded, making it hard to even focus on my own thoughts. If I can focus on them, I would be able to take notes in the next class. Listening in I received enough information about four students. Most of the information found in gossip was no use to me. I reached 3B and pulled out my journal, flipping through the pages to find the certain names.

A cluster of girls were giggling a few desks over gawking at the infamous Tamaki Suoh and Kyoya Ootori. I saw someone leaning against my desk. Shutting my journal, I glared up at Sumida Torajiro. How I detested this boy with everything in my being. It took everything in me to not retch just from the thought of him.

"Its rather impolite to keep tabs on everyone, don't you think Akita?" He smirked reaching for the book but I grabbed it quickly from his reach.

"You refer to me as Miss Hasegawa. Why must you find a way in my space all the time? Still can't get over the rejection from first year?" I held a smug smile, earning a glare in my direction. I may not be as noticeable as others, but Sumida was known as a troublemaker. If I had recognized before first year, maybe I wouldn't be as closed off as I am.

He abruptly stood up knocking over my bag in the process. A chuckle with a smug 'oops' escaped him as he moved to his desk. I noticed eyes on me, I rolled my eyes fucking bastard. Picking up my items and returning them to their place in my bag I opened my journal once again. Writing a few notes about Sumida as well as the others I heard from the halls. I heard the teacher begin speaking but I focused on updating information about the students around me.

Allowing myself to review the notes I made. Despite the notes being only gossip, who knew if they were true or not. Until I could find the truth about the rumors then I can update my journal once again. I moved to the back, continuing on a drawing of another student I had seen on campus. This person in particular had a fine jawline and soft pointed nose. Even with feminine features, he wore a male uniform. As I hadn't seen him in any of my classes he could have been a first or second year.

I don't know what made me intrigued in drawing students. The fact everyone had their own features differentiating themselves from everyone else. Even the smallest details were key to recognizing people. Lightly moving my pencil to add darker lines in his eyes. Once the bell rung once again I closed my journal softly and put them in my bag as everyone rushed out. I stood up taking a look around the room to see a black journal on an empty desk. I looked around before picking it up opening the cover to see the name Ootori scripted on the inside. Closing it, I moved through the halls.

Free period, meant people hanging out in the libraries and  in the hallways. Making my way to the arts building. Everyone knew where the host club spent its time during free period. How could they not, with the girls gathering around the room in hopes to catch on of the hosts.

I knocked on the door only to hear yelling and heavy steps. "I'm sorry is that Kyoya's notebook?" A girl, Ayume, asked and I nodded. "I can return it to him." Her smile was wide and her eyes held hope but I shook my head.

"Sorry, I can't be handing his personal journal to anyone. Especially if you are a guest to the Host Club." I stated and knocked again. She pouted before leaving, grumbling about me under her breath. After not receiving an answer again, I opened the door to see a student running around by Tamaki who held a dress up. A set of twins following behind him trying to trap the student. I immediately recognized his face, the student I was currently in the process of drawing. Ignoring that I saw Ootori search his bag and becoming increasingly frustrated.

"I think you may be looking for this." Walking up to his table I offered the notebook to him and he looked up, taking it from me. "You left it in 3B, I figured you would want it for the rest of the day." I began to walk away. He stayed to himself, as that was my cue to leave. I opened the door, closing it behind me and making my way to the fountain area. I sat at my usual bench near and pulled out my journal and found Ayume and writing down a few notes of her behaviors and potential assumptions.

She could be a guest of Ootori's and although the daughter of a client of the Hasegawa's, this was good to note for future business with her family. Clearly she didn't recognize me or my family group if she muttered small curses and insults at me. Feeling eyes on me I look around to see Tamaki and the twins staring at me from the second floor windows. They immediately hid from view and I shook my head turning back to my notebook.

Hearing a chime cause me to pull my phone out to see another event added to my calendar. Sighing I put my phone down. I already wanted this day to end.

I couldn't help but notice Suoh staring at me throughout the rest of the day making comments to Kyoya. Kyoya was clearly frustrated that he wouldn't shut up but I tried to keep my focus on my drawing. What was so worrisome about me, all I did was return the book Ootori left behind.

Once the bell rung, Suoh approached me quickly. He was basically sweating bullets and I stood still waiting for him to move out of my way.

"Why, princess, won't you please come to Music Room 3 today? We want to invite you to our host event for the day." He smiled softly and I shook my head.

"Thank you for the invitation but I must decline. I have business matters to attend to." I tried to walk around him but Ootori blocked me. Anxiety began to vibrate within me as the feeling of being trapped ensued.

"Then perhaps tomorrow we can discuss business during free period." He stated shifted his glasses.

"If you are trying to make me late for my business arrangements, I will have to revisit the contract we have with your group." I remained a neutral face as he raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure Mr. Ootori would find it interesting how his third son interfered with a Hasegawa's schedule." Almost instantly he shifted out of my way and I made my way out to the courtyard with a smug smile on my face.

I was met outside with my younger brothers, Gomi and Tani. I smile and ruffle their hair for them to whine and fix their hair.

"Do we have to walk again?" Gomi asked as Tani looked down our main route home.

"I will buy us ice cream on the way." I bribed them and they immediately perked up. As we began walking Tani grabbed my arm.

"Won't we ruin dinner by eating sweets?" He was always concerned but I shook my head.

"You two always stay hungry. I also want to ruin my appetite since I won't be joining you both for dinner." I watched as they began to run and play along the walk after buying them ice cream. How was I going to get out of this dinner? I could fake being sick but mother would find out too quickly.

Once we arrived, maids began flustering around me and I dismissed them. Going to my room I put on a white blouse and a pencil skirt. Fixing my hair into a bun and applying light makeup I got ready for yet another date my mother had set up.

I waited for my business partner to arrive. He was already late, how am I not surprised by this.

I walked outside watching the birds outside before Yushiko finally arrived. I begrudgingly got into the car as he felt up my leg before we could even arrive at the restaurant. Disgust coursed through my veins, another one of those.
