March 7th
8:00 PM Sulifa, Qa'ihr
By the side of every man was a more powerful woman. Naisha Awad was precisely that - a more powerful woman. Although she didn't have the power she could feel it, it made her feel as though she was indestructible and maybe her naivety was the reason they had messed up. Every person in that room had been on the wrong side. Perhaps if they had spent longer thinking the coup through they would've seen their mistake coming but they hadn't.
Naisha stood at Abbas Morcos' side as he spoke to a few members of the council. In total there were around eight of them all who shared Morcos' ideas and who swore to not speak of their plan to anyone else. Naisha had been against inviting the rest of the Qa'ihran nobility in fear that the word would get out about their plans much to Morcos' dismay, but he underestimated the love the people of Qa'ihr had for the Al-Jaber Saleh's. The crown had been in their family for over two hundred generations.
The idea of power was heavy in his mind, like a smoke cloud it obstructed his vision. He hadn't really thought it through but he knew if the monarchs were still standing he'd never get re-elected especially now that their crown prince had returned and the family seemed united. The scandal of Hakeem's marriage wasn't going to be enough to turn the people against the royals.
"Without the Qa'ihran army, we won't accomplish anything."
"I have a few Dorijan soldiers who can fix that problem," Abbas said.
"But isn't tonight a bit too soon?"
"Whilst there is no coronated head royal it's a conspiracy and not definitely treason in case we get caught, so it has to be tonight," Naisha added.
"Besides they are already on their way, in about thirty minutes the coup will begin."
"Miss Awad, how can we trust you aren't relaying this information, with who your father is to Duke Hassan?"
Naisha opened her mouth to insult the council member but was silent when she felt Abbas place his hand over hers. He looked at her and nodded before turning back to the room.
"Naisha is my fiancee and I know she can be trusted." The revelation had come as a shock to the audience as they were fully aware of Naisha's history with the future King.
"I don't think it wise to plan a coup with the woman who was in love with her future King." Mr. Kadeer said entering the room, he paused. "Or to plan a coup at all."
Mr. Kadeer's entrance brought a quick silence with it as eyes stared at him. He entered the room eyes darting between his prime minister and Naisha Awad. He didn't approach them, he simply nodded at the rest of the people in the room and helped himself to a glass of Bourbon on the center table.
"Cheap," he commented as he took a sip and then turned back to the prime minister and Naisha.
"Don't stop on my account, I would love to hear the rest of your plan." His eyes zeroed in on Abbas Morcos.
Naisha felt her throat burning. Nasir Kadeer was the son of one of the noble families of Qa'ihr and an estranged friend of Amir. Nasir was devilishly handsome and a famous manipulator he was known to chase nothing but power but his loyalty to Amir was unbreakable or so they had thought. He was smirking at them as he unbuttoned his collar and ran a hand through his hair waiting for a response.
