November 3rd
7:30 AM London, United Kingdom
It should be said that no one saw this coming. Hakeem had tried for so long to bury the relationship with his family along with the truth about his identity, that he had forgotten that he had no choice.
Amir Saleh, his older brother, had already abdicated his claim to the throne. Instead, he was in search of the bachelor lifestyle of cars, models, and traveling. After their father died Amir made it known he had no interest in the crown; it came as a shock as when their father was alive he was groomed for the job.
So instead the Queen Mother Heer Saleh would rule until Hakeem finished University at the London School of Economics. That was the deal, but along the way, Hakeem began to grow accustomed to the western way of living that he forgot his duties to his family; he even stopped visiting the island and fell in love with someone he knew his family would never accept.
Of course his fiancee Amila King had no real idea of who she was going to be marrying up until about four months ago. They had been together for nearly four years now; they ran into each other on the tube and had never left each other's side since. Amila wasn't exactly what the Queen mother would imagine for Hakeem. For starters she was black, she was a Christian by birth and well, she was in art school. Hakeem had never intended for them to meet, he would prolong returning till they were married and had children then he would break the news to Amila and she'd be fine with it - that was his plan.
Then four months ago, Amir came to visit them at their apartment. Amila opened the door wearing nothing but Hakeem's shirt. Expecting it to be her friend Iris, she was shocked to see an older version of her fiancee stood gawking at her.
"Who are you?"
"Who am I? darling I'm the original of whatever you were with last night."
Amila was taken aback, still processing his presence. You see, Hakeem had also told Amila he was an only child and that he didn't get along with his parents so he wasn't in contact with them and Amir definitely didn't look old enough to be Hakeem's father.
"You can leave, I'm sure my brother wouldn't want his one night stands roaming his house," Amir said walking past her and taking in the surroundings. There was a difference between him and his younger brother and that was the fact Hakeem never seemed to get the lifestyle correct.
Hakeem's apartment was clean - slightly feminine - and his one-night stand was still here and it was nearly nine o'clock in the morning. Amir went over to the blinds and opened them letting the London light enter the space. Amila shut the door behind her still puzzled. Amir glanced at her sideways and grinned a little- Hakeem definitely had taste, her golden skin looked amazing against his white shirt and she was curvy in all the right places. Her breasts were visible through the shirt and she didn't seem to notice until Amir was staring for too long.
"Hakeem!" she shouted into the apartment which was silent for another beat till the door of a bedroom opened and Hakeem the crown prince himself exited, his bare chest on display and wearing grey sweatpants.
"Yeah, baby? Who was at the door?" He went straight to Amila hugging her not noticing his brother's presence till Amila pointed behind him. Hakeem stood frozen staring at his older brother in shock and then back to Amila, whose puzzlement had just shifted to anger. Hakeem could tell because her eyebrow was creased.
