A few days later, Maddie and Miguel sat in first period together, with Miguel turned around and talking to the blonde girl about karate.

"Aisha joined. We finally got another student!" Miguel exclaimed excitedly. Maddie giggled.

"That's great Miguel, I'm happy for you." Maddie smiled at him.

"Yeah, she's honestly not bad. Knocked me down, it hurt though." Miguel rubbed the side of his torso where his ribs were for a second.

"That bad, huh?" Maddie giggled.

"Yeah, she's an absolute natural. I think she's going to start sitting with us at lunch." Miguel informed her.

"Alright, that sounds great. We need more female energy at the table anyways." Maddie joked, causing Miguel to playfully role his eyes.

"So are you still thinking you'll take me up on my offer to join karate?" Miguel asked, hopeful.

"Yeah, I think so. I should be around within the next few days." Maddie answered.

"Could you tell me where it is?" Maddie questioned.

"Oh! Yeah! It's in this strip mall in Reseda, the address is.." Miguel told her the address of the place and she marked it down in her phone.

"I'll try to make it over after school." Maddie told him, and Miguel grinned excitedly. The bell interrupted their conversation how ever.

Miguel and Maddie got up and walked out together, walking in the halls together. Miguel would always walk Maddie to her 2nd period class because it was right on the way to his next class.

Today, Eli decided to take a back route to his next class because the way he normally goes was backed up too bad.

When he looked down the hall and saw Maddie and Miguel smiling and laughing with each other, he couldn't help but feel jealous and sad.

He quickly looked away and hurried off to his class, with his heart feeling heavier than usual. As he walked away, Maddie caught a glimpse of him and furrowed her eyebrows, confused.

Eli would never walk by without saying hi to her. She just shrugged it off though, thinking that it was probably just that he was running late for class and didn't have time.

She and Miguel quickly said goodbye to each other, doing their small finger ritual, locking their pinkies together before Maddie walked into her class.

Miguel watched her go with dreamy eyes, but snapped out of it and headed to his own class. He shook his head, he should go for Sam.

Maddie walked into lunch with Demetri and Eli. Miguel was just ahead of them when they met up. They went through the lunch line and picked out what to eat.
