Okay so...I realize I didn't update for like a week...but in my defense, I did break my foot and was drowning under a pile of homework and writer's block.

Also, I realize I never really give you super clear descriptions of what the characters look like, which is because I want you to be able to imagine Kestrel and her friends how you want them to look. Kestrel to me is just meant to be a strong woman which is why I portray her the way that I do.

Anyways, here ya go. And I'll try to not be such a sucky author and get the next update out soon.

He still wasn't fully awake when I entered the room. Ducky had managed to stitch up Louis's head, and had placed a white bandage on his forehead and cleaned him up. The white looked strange against his tan skin. He never wore white.

"He is all stitched up now. I gave him blood, he had lost quite a lot, I had to take his blood type, I hope he is okay with that." Ducky wrung his hands, hopping from one foot to the other like a circus clown.

"Yes, whatever you had to do is fine." I said shakily, standing just inside the doorway staring at Louis's slowly stirring form. Jay, Andrea, and Dallas were peering around me to get a good look at him.

"He has a concussion too, a bad one. He needs to wear sunglasses and rest for at least a week before doing anything strenuous."

I nodded slowly at Ducky, tiptoeing over to Louis who moved his hands up to rub his fists over his eyes, trying to adjust to the lighting even though it was low.

It was so cute I had to smile.

He blinked slowly, opening his blue eyes while I continued to creep towards him. He was staring at the ceiling and began to slowly realize that he didn't recognize his surroundings.

He shot up off the gurney into a sitting position, his hand flying to his waistband for his gun.

"Lou, no!" I shouted, right when Ducky cried "yikes!" and jumped about a foot in the air.

Louis froze the moment he heard my voice, rotating his torso in the direction of my voice and blinking rapidly, still trying to adjust to the light.

I hustled towards him, grabbing his forearm so that he knew where I was. Behind me, Dallas had shifted into a crouch out of habit, stepping in front of Andrea and Jay with his hand at his waistband while Andrea had ducked behind the doorway, out of the line of fire and I couldn't see Jay behind Dallas, but I was sure he was in a crouch too.

"Louis. It's Kestrel." Louis was blinking rapidly in my direction, like he could only see the outline of me.

Ducky had said he had a bad concussion, but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad.

"Kess? Where the hell are we?" He asked, grabbing my hands with both of his so our palms were over one another and turned to slide down off the gurney so he was standing on his own two legs.

"Well the pipe bomb went off in the basement and we ran out onto the lawn when I think something hit us because we both passed out. Only I woke up on the lawn though and I couldn't wake you up so I threw you in the car and drove to my gang's headquarters because I didn't know what to do." I explained, feeling the four pairs of my gang member's eyes searing into my back and scrutinizing Louis now that he was calm.

I didn't even think Louis had noticed Dallas, Jay, and Andrea. He had jumped when he had seen the lights, and could barely see Ducky and I.

He frowned, mulling over my words.
