With his eyes wide and alert, he scanned over the words written on the papers of the book in front of them. Both sat in silence as they looked for anything that was of use.
After he had found the book Taehyun had ran over to the desk where Namjoon was still standing, quickly telling him that what he did was nothing compared to everything he had done in the other world. Besides, he really wanted to get this particular book, and after reading the bold handwriting, the older had agreed to him. He had pushed his copying work to the side for the time being, the little book being more important in the moment.
They turned the pages one by one, reading every single word written on it to not miss anything that could be of use. Taehyun had told the older they had to read each page thoroughly to find something, anything that would help them get further. Of course Namjoon had smiled at him and told him that he'd do his best, and they had started their reading.
Taehyun had gasped every once in a while, thinking he had found something big and gaining Namjoon's attention with it. But as he read the whole sentence, he sighed, realising it was nothing at all.
"Why isn't it saying anything about a basket?" The brunette pouted. They hadn't found anything yet and they were almost at the end of the book. It wasn't a big one with a lot of pages, so reading through it didn't take up much time. Still, even with that, the younger got frustrated and impatient.
Namjoon shrugged. "Maybe you got the wrong book?" He asked, reaching his hand to turn the page. Taehyun shook his head and glanced at the other. "I'm sure this one is the one we need, it said right at the start that it contained stuff of the different kinds of portals possible in this world."
"Maybe, yeah. But that doesn't mean it's about a portal in a basket, too." Namjoon spoke, getting a sigh out of the younger because he knew the older was right about that.
"I know, but the basket is a portal, and it's possible, and the book is about possible portals, so why is it it in here?" He rattled, reading over the words as well. In his life he had learned to read and talk at the same time, and he was thankful for that. Namjoon shook his head and judges his shoulder. "We're not through the whole book yet so you can't say that with certainty. And you know I'm right so just be patient, okay?"
Taehyun sighed again but nodded this time. "Alright Hyung."
Together they read through the book, making sure to not miss anything. Taehyun sighed a couple of times while they were reading the old book while Namjoon stayed quiet, brows furrowed and lips pursed in concentration. It didn't take all that long for them to get to the last few pages, and then Taehyun gasped for the umpteenth time. But this time, it wasn't followed by a sigh.
"Is this it?" He asked Namjoon, like the older had the answer to that. "I don't know Tae, let me read it." He replied, and being the faster reader of them both he leant over the book fully. The brunette waited, but it wasn't patiently. He wanted, he needed to know if this was the book they were looking for. He didn't want to continue searching for the right book. Didn't want to be in here anymore. He just wanted to get to the other world, to the boy he missed so much.
"Tae," Namjoon then said, and the boy nodded eagerly, wanting to know already. "You were right."
"About what? That it's the book or that it's not in there?" He asked, hating the older in this moment for dragging it out. Namjoon looked up from the book and smiled. "About this being the right one."
Taehyun's lips formed a bright smile and he jumped, leaping forward and throwing his arms around the older in a sudden hug. He couldn't help it, he was just happy they had finally found it after being stuck in here for hours. Namjoon was shocked at first but quickly chuckled, hugging the younger back. "I get it you're happy?" He smiled. "The only thing we need for it is a gem."
Taehyun removed his arms from around the older's waist and looked up at him, a frown on his features. "An gem? What kind?" He asked. After taking a quick glance at the book laying on the desk the taller replied. "An Opal, like the one on the drawing in the book. But I don't know how to get one.. I mean I could look around the shop, but.." He pondered.
After he had said that the younger's face dropped. An Opal. He only knew one person who owned an Opal, so getting to it wouldn't be that much of a problem. But it wouldn't be easy.
"You okay?" Namjoon asked, noticing his sudden silence. "I thought you'd be happy about this, since it's not impossible." He said. Taehyun shook his head. "No, that's not it. I am happy about this, it's doable. I even know where we can find an Opal like that. The only thing bothering me about that is.." He sighed. "I don't want to tell the person who owns it about all of this."
Namjoon tilted his head in question. "Who?"
"The one person I wanted to leave out of this.. Jin-Hyung."
